have you thought of removing the handle and having it re-chromed by a specialist company

I had a 2013 Mulsanne for 3 years. It should be identical to a 2011. I understood ALL shiny metal was stainless steel, both inside and out. Is it possible something other than chrome plating deterioration is happening? Is this what a Bentley dealer is saying? Very perplexed.

Hi

Its like a chrome plating that lifts away from the handle .

I think it’s a common problem. 2 of my handles were affected and replacement was the only option from Bentley. All the exterior metal detail on the car is chrome plate, not stainless steel.
Eventually I got fed up with all the cosmetic problems my car had and let the car go which was a shame

I just called my Bentley service manager. I was wrong. The door handles are chrome plated. Sorry for my error...

I had multiple paint corrosion issues, lots of small bubbles of corrosion on the lower panels, the naim amplifier broke costing £2200 to replace, fuel gauge stopped working, leaking suspension unit, rattling exhaust caused by a broken exhaust muffler, multiple dash board squeaks, multiple chrome issues, peeling and cracking. This was a Bentley preowned example too. Got rid of it after 18 months as was just causing too much trouble. To top it off the local dealer was dreadful too!
