Took my gp3 on track very briefly last week. Didn't even have time to play with tyre pressures so car felt a little loose on the front end. To that ends what do people think a good starting point is for pressures an a warm day on track.

Cheers

Anyone know any dealers which are still taking orders? Which options are deemed necessary (if any)?

Thanks
Marshalls offered me a couple of cars last week (at a discount) wink

Sytner Nottingham have a Touring with under 1000miles coming into stock at 37k.

See that GP on collecting cars sold for under list, way under in terms of what the seller would actually get. Not sure the speculators on autotrader will be happy.
Not a massive saving, £1k under dealer prices (after the fees) to be the second registered keeper.

Interesting, want to share the discount offer details you received from Marshall’s?

0.4% laugh I didn't haggle or anything. I'm sure there's more on offer for discount servicing or other goodies.

I think that is an understatement! He was brutal about it, but it was good to watch an honest review I thought...rather than sugar coated reviews that you mostly see about cars.

It’s now abundantly clear why Mini only invited influencers to the launch last year and why it was done on a circuit.

As above, so much better to see people’s real thoughts on a car rather than the usual influencer brown noser who’s trying to get on a list.

It started off so well, then he looked at the MINI laugh

Personally I have done 1200 miles in mine now. It’s not a perfect car by any means but then neither is my GT4 or my M3, they all have flaws for sure.
Will I keep it when my Yaris GR4 arrives in November, I am not sure. I expect big things from the Yaris but then again I expected big things from the GP3, it seems that the GP3’s perfect playground may be on the track.

As it stands right now, I like the GP3 and have done some decent miles in it already to form that opinion. My only gripe is that the touring pack should have came as standard along with proper seats.

Hmmm

You can say most cars are not perfect for different reasons and functions as cars…

But what we are talking about here is drivers cars and as a side the GT4 is pretty much a perfect drivers car in the modern world.. Unfortunately the GP is sounding like it really is not and has lost that Mini magic that most on this sub forum love. I can’t pass real judgement until I’ve driven one as is the correct way and will as soon as some come on the real second hand market.

It does seem like that I dodged a bullet though as it doesn’t sound like it’s my kind of car. That whole launch with the influencers (goofs) where they weren’t allowed to drive it was very dodgy and set alarm bells ringing. Then the weird bunch of videos of the first deliveries that didn’t tell you anything about how they drove. A lot of the slow drip of reviews etc was probably down to Covid I’m sure. But at last these 2 video reviews are what I’ve been waiting for, proper in car driving hard assessments. A car (a hot hatch) that you leave in auto for track work?

As said it’s not for me and I’m sure the people that have got one love it and it looks so freaky fast!

Personally there is only 1 person who influences which car I buy and that would be me. Never bothered with the you tubers or what the car mags have to say. I remember when I had my 1M on order, everyone was saying how crazy I was spending 45k on a 1 series BMW! I never listened to any of them and that was a great car, even by today’s standards.

Like you say the car wasn’t for you and I get that. I am not really trying to defend it as I will enjoy it for the time I have it and then move on to something else in due course.

Once I get it out at a track day in the next few weeks then it may just be it’s chance to shine, if it doesn’t shine then it will be the car that the Yaris replaces.

4wd might be a big thing next winter, so it might be difficult to make a “fair comparison”, but with all the reviews I have seen so far I would bet on the GR4 Becoming your “keeper” and that’s coming from a serial mini fan-boy.

Perhaps the Mini needs the aftermarket to really realise its full potential, unfortunately the ownership “profile” makes that very unlikely in the next 3-4 years.

Just done 700 miles in 2 weeks and agree its a marmite car but its exactly what I expected from a 1255KG 300bhp fwd auto with quite a tight lsd - probably not an ideal daily driver but very entertaining if not pretty wild for something that's come out of the BMW family. The Yaris looks good but if you have experienced Subaru sti's,Evo's etc it will disappoint with a lack of ultimate puff from the 3 cylinder 1.6 engine...no shortage of puff in the Mini GP

I've just bought a 15 year old STi to hoon about in whilst I wait for the Yaris to arrive and I'll be arriving at the demo day in it so will be able to compare them back to back.
