The Yaris does seem to be getting universally good reviews with 261bhp, 3 pot turbo and four wheel drive and trick diffs (two on the Circuit Pack variant).

It also has properly flared arches rather than bolt-on pi$$ flaps and is a proper homologation special just like we used to get back in the good old rally days.

I wonder if the GR Yaris will knock the values of the GP3 down?
Be interesting to see but I think once the GP3 is absorbed into the market values will firm up. I’ll wager you’ll see the Yaris with discounts before to long as good as it is. The thought of a three pot also put me off four cylinders are few enough!

The level of interest which has already converted to orders is pretty impressive. All cars sold up to June next year. The PH forum on the GR Yaris now runs to 280 pages!

The fact that it has a manual gearbox (or 'manuel' in strictest Porker-forum-speak) is also a plus*

Not intended as a slight against GP3 owners (I totally respect people's right to buy, drive and enjoy whatever they like) but Andrew Frankel of DriveNation and Autocar put forth a pretty savage comparison in episode 35 of the DN podcast when discussing the GP3 vs GR Yaris...

"One is a poseurs paradise and the other is a proper driving machine"

OUCH! laugh

An interesting B road comparison of the GP3 and GR Yaris in this Evolve and Joe Achilles collaboration

Had a watch. The Yaris on those roads, in those conditions trumped the GP3, which was deemed too stiffly sprung, more of a track car and having an overriding will to kill its driver on the road.

The Nurburgring fettling seems to have ruined it for the road. No doubt the Evolve guys will now look at some mods to try and improve its on-road manners.

The Mini did come off better as regards interior.

Both GP3 and GR Yaris in their own way is overpriced IMO. Would be interesting to see how both car fares value wise by the end of 2021 when the cars are no longer flavour of the month.

It's as if Toyota is treating the GRY as the 2nd coming of Christ demanding £1,500 deposit for a testdrive - I'm sure it's a great little car but £33k no matter how you cut it is strong money for a Yaris.

Personally I feel the level of technology Toyota have thrown at the Yaris is way beyond what MINI have at the GP. What is it they've actually added above anything else, some dampers, rear seat delete and a body kit? Everything else is a miss mash of off the shelf parts isn't it?

The Yaris has a completely different shell utilising carbon fibre and aluminium construction before you even mention it's bespoke drive train.
