Weird little forum this

Rover P6 and P5, true icons of yesteryear, relegated to 'Yesterday's Heroes' and a ubiquitous fwd mini beemer gets it's own space.

Call me ignorant and I would hate to offend, but

WHY???

Cant we have a Skoda Fabia or Yaris or, of course!! Aixam, site?!

"go and give an old man a bed bath"

Dunno if that was meant as a humorous retort, or otherwise, but either way, I was giving "old men" and people of all ages in need, such care from when I was just 16 years old and have no qualms about doing it in the future.

Indeed, such responses, and little engerland phrases such as "Krauts", just serve to further illustrate my point

Hi,

I don't have a problem with anyone liking any type of car but if enough people want to talk about a particular car then why not?

My wife has a Mini Cooper S Convertible and is a cracking little car that's open to all kinds of modifications and personalisation, it's a lot of fun. I have a friend at work (Cyclone1 on this forum) who has a TVR and that's a great car too, he spends a lot of time and money on modifications because he likes performance, I would not spend that amount of money on modifying a TVR but that what he likes so goog luck to him. I also like the old Mini and believe it or not old MG's, Rovers, Stag's Etc.

Sorry but I would not place a post on a forum just because I don't understand why someone would want to buy and perhaps modify a certain type of car, why bother?

Alan.

you came on here with that post for a scrap so...
...but i ***apologise*** i think it is good that people do things that are constructive. in a sense that was why i couldn't understand why you would want to come here and be quite the reverse trying to belittle this 'area', an area that is just taking off.

the 'krauts' thing was in response to your 'fwd bmw' comment. if i misinterpreted this then fair enough - i'd have thought it was clear enough i was taking the micky though..!

People like you don't like MINIs. that's why we were separated from the Minis bit. there arequite a few people who like both but it's for the best. i appreciate that many BL people blame BMW for the demise of rover etc etc but at the end of the day we are where we are, MINIs, rolls royces, bentleys, toyotas, nissans and hondas ARE the UK motor industry. minis are boght by a lot of enthusiasts and a lot of 'civilians', there are certainly a lot of people here who could and do go to MINI2 but a lot of the time it's just as well to post here. edited to say - you answered your own question really - there's a 'MINI' forum because they are ubiquitous!

perhaps if enough people are bothered there may be a P5 forum again, ask ted..? it's a fairly fluid forum..boxsters got subsumed back into 'porsche'.

baskey - sorry, man, I didnt mean to offend anyone and I never wanted a scrap.

I had asked for a P6 forum some time ago and was directed by Ted I think to the 'Yesterday's heroes' forum. It's a fact that the rover p6 owner's club message boards themselves are rarely visted and it's also a different culture, where people who really do want to fix and improve them just ring each other up or go to each other's barn and hang out.

I never wanted to have a pop at Minis either. They are quintessential good driving fun and reliable motors, and if I could I'd stick a 3500 Skylark engine in one myself

Keep the Faith people

Now, if Top Gear could stop telling stupid jokes and have a serious bit each week for issues like Why do lots of people ignore red lights, or, why are those headlights that blind you on dip still legal, then maybe I'd watch that a bit more often. Those are the kind of scraps I like
