Regarding having to close the suicide door *before* the front door this is unlikely to change as it has an impact on the way the car performs in crashworthiness testing. IIRC the "rear access door" design allows the car to be crash tested as a 2 door and not a 4 door (deleted B pillar may make the large single aperture an issue) and the RAD becomes a structural element secured with 2 latches top and bottom.
