Hardwick X-Stream cross country race this morning. Think I counted 6 river crossings, some of which were waist deep, and an energy sapping 1Km climb across a muddy ploughed field towards the end. And the car got stuck on the way out and had to be towed free.

Good fun though smile

We have a Brit in Damien Hall on lap 5 in Frozen Head State Park... one of four out there. Must be an easy peasy year.
Best Tweet is that Laz is worried no one will enter next year because they think it's too easy smile

Quite! I also enjoyed people trying to work out who was who in KDs tweets. We had foreign guy, talkative guy, and very polite guy, Japanese Laz, nondescript guy, tall guy with black beard, and small European woman... Murray Walker eat your heart out!

Anyone running Paris marathon?

They're having a meeting on Tuesday to decide whether to postpone due to riots.

Slow slow slow. Can never be slow enough. My weekly 10 miler is 9.20.

Tempo, 30-40 mins at 6.15 with a half mile warm/cool at each end.

Speed work targeting 5k’s worth of intervals at 18 seconds per 100 meters.

I’ll do a 4th run maybe 10k usually trial/hills whatever. Maybe a parkrun at 22 ish pace.

That keeps me in high 17 min 5k/36 10k shape all year at 45. With very little injury risk due to never exceeding 25 ish miles. Granted I’m not targeting a marathon. No interest.

Said it before but consistency is the key. Rain hail snow or shine.
well said sir

Damp and overcast here this morning! Got 22 miles to do at lunchtime. Think it's going to be a slog tbh

I've posted on here to keep me accountable tbh! Going to pick a nice seafront out and back, take a dry top and socks with me if it gets proper gross!

Good luck! I'm seriously considering waiting until it clears up after lunch - either way it will get done though... just last 20 miler before London, so can't miss it.

Solo 20 miles ticked off in the rain. Not much enjoyment to be had, but needed to be done. Calfs getting tight at the end but otherwise all OK. 4 weeks to work on them!

Yes, well done. I chickened out again and did 16k at the gym - god it was boring! However, it was my last long run ahead of Paris next Sunday. I’ve got two short runs during the week (just to keep my legs turning over) and that’s it ahead of the marathon!

I’m not as fit as when I ran Amsterdam last October but feel good I’ve got through the training block without significant injury, just dome niggles.

Thanks

Rob

been really struggling with motivation for ~ 8 months now, only done a handful of runs in that time, when I used to run regularly, multiple times a week, and had done so more or less continuously for 15 years. Painful foot from aggravated Mortons neuroma has been bothering me, caused my narrow shoes, and I got really pissed off that the shoe company that used to make shoes that actually fit me kept their marketing bumpf about foot-shaped shoes while actually changing their shoes to have stupid shoe shapes. (my feet are size 6.5 length, but are as wide as a size 12 EE width...). Also been struggling with regimented regimes and plans etc. being a bit uninspiring.

HOWEVER, this morning, I decided just go go for it, forget about time/distance/pace walk/run (I have lost a lot of fitness) and 'go and run around around like a dog'. I did it. it was ace. really fun. want to do it again now.

time to go to my bed and sleep now though.

Nice one!

I also braved the wind and rain! Pretty miserable tbh!

1:29:54 in the Fleet HM today and I had to work for it from mile 10 due to a lack of runs longer than 9 miles in the last few months. The 1:30 pacers passed me at mile 12 and I had to dig deep. Pleased overall though as that's only the second time I've managed sub 90.

Yes, myself and one other on the thread (Inspire?).

Having run in Paris a couple of times this month it's pretty mining with trash piled up everywhere. I guess they're more worried about the potential for disruption if protestors get onto the route. I'll be travelling anyway to see family. It'd be a real shame to be there and not able to run.
