Glad we cleared that up. Lots of controversies as a ref and as a judge over the years - retire the bloke now.

Agree, Ian John-Lewis has been associated with several 'interesting' decisions.Ian John-Lewis web page (half way down the page) quote:

But I'd still argue the problem is the system not the individuals. If this person retired, the system would just cultivate another person who generated similar results.
In theory the judges are appointed by the BBBoC and in theory should be neutral. But the BBBoC is a limited company, with a small turnover and a tiny profit and so there isn't equality of power - particular if you compare them to a company like Sky or TopRank, who are the ones paying the invoices. They know if they rock the boat too much, they are easily replaced by the promoter or the broadcaster. Same applies with the judges - I doubt these are wealthy people, they want to keep getting the gig, and they know if they turn in a result which costs the promoter or the broadcaster a few million, that becomes less likely.
I don't like it either - but it's why professional boxing is more of a business than a sport imho.
I hope Catteral comes out of this OK, losing a decision like this can really change a fighter, for about five minutes, he and everyone watching thought he was undisputed, undefeated world champion, life changing situation, especially given he had stepped aside, for nothing, to let Taylor unify. What an absolute farce. Just watched Taylor Post fight too, joke of a guy, delusional. Never understood why professionals can't just be honest, ' I had a bad day at the office, Jack was much better than me tonight, I'm not sure if the decision is right, it seemed close to me but I'll have to rewatch it', not 'I won the fight, I won the fight'. I have rarely been so upset over a decision, liked Taylor before this, and have followed Jack from his early appearances on BoxNation and the like. No winners here, even Taylor's stick has dropped hugely.
