But yes really enjoyed Secret Valley, was in great condition everywhere and a challenging layout - really good value too.
I enjoyed the course overall. Greens were much easier than Eléa (much flatter, still quick). I played much better around SV, I found it much easier to work out where to go than Eléa, the tee shots suited my eye more (apart from hole 7; even then my playing partners all said my tee shot should be good, and it transpired it was too far left ie. lost). Weather was better as well which always helps But yes really enjoyed Secret Valley, was in great condition everywhere and a challenging layout - really good value too.

Oh, knew there was something else to say... bit of a negative but I thought the bunkers were really poor and not in keeping with the rest of the place. But so as not to end on a downer, the clubhouse was very smart 37 points yesterday playing off 17.4 (course h'cap 16) which was enough to earn a few quid off my playing partners.
Starting to get comfy with the LAB DF3 putter and the Ping G425 driver is going really well as are the old Wilson FG Tours recommended to me by Duncan (thanks! ). Had them all regripped with the midsize Prides and they feel great. Just need to get the short chips working, which for me will mean not decelerating and duffing the hell out of them, and not jumping up and thinning the hell out of them. It's almost always one of those two, but I am starting to see a route to improvement by weakening the right hand grip, going down the shaft, brushing through the grass and committing to a proper swing.
Another thing that's helping is making sure to align myself properly. I couldn't work out why the accuracy was poor until I made a point of standing behind the ball and focusing on a point 4 feet or so ahead of it. Aligning to that felt 'wrong' even though I'd just seen with my own eyes that it was bang on route to the target. Believing that and going with it has really helped. So basic, I know, but going back to basics every now and then is a very worthwhile exercise – for me anyway!

I could see how static my lower body was on that swing so I thought I'd try to use my legs a lot more (the swing felt nutty and out of control like I was squatting to the floor) but the results were much better in terms of results if nothing else, still not separating, everything is going together and it's steep like a cliff face, but it's going in the air, scroll to 27 secs as for some reason my mate didn't tell me he was filming!
Just catching up with this thread..The early wrist set is the best part of your swing by far. Don’t think I’ve seen the golfer that sets his wrists too early most of us battle the opposite feel.
Your arms are way too inside and flat and your knees far too bent. As mentioned the last thing you need to be thinking of at the top is to get your legs moving more.. you lose all hip depth immediately as it is and that sends the club steep 0TT.
Downswing must start with the arms

Hi all,
Just starting to play golf again after retiring and about 40 years since I played a little bit when in my teens.
Think I’ve sorted clubs etc save for a bag trolley. I’ve seen a few - non electric- which are ok but seem to fold up to quite a big unit.
Ideally I’d like a trolley that will fold up to as small a unit as possible and preferably would fit into a 718 Boxster front boot. Even better if it’s also fits into an Alpine a100s boot.
Any recommendations for the smallest possible would be very welcome.
Is the Rovic RV1C compact any good? Seems to be the smallest one I can find.
Thanks.

I have the Motocaddy Cube and really like it. It folds up really small and into an optional bag that you can put on the front seat. This one also looks good.Just starting to play golf again after retiring and about 40 years since I played a little bit when in my teens.

Back from Vilamoura.
Played 10 holes of the Vila de Lobo Ocean course shortly after landing and a delayed flight - my gosh, it's very tight in places on the front 9 - the fairway basically finishes as the houses start. It's almost like a full size crazy golf course and there are places where you could play a ricochet off a 20 foot high wall and it wouldn't have been that bad a shot. Not sure I would go back to that course but maybe having a 4am start and a delayed flight didn't help with my golf game.
Then we played Dom Pedro Laguna - This was nice - felt very open after the day before. Didn't score well, but it was a nice walk.
The last day, Dom Pedro Pinhal - played here a year ago, and it was still great - some really interesting holes and managed to play to my handicap which was pretty pleasing
It definitely feels like the golf season is now over - I've managed 99 rounds this year (might squeeze one or 2 more in if I can) and with a new job just started, I can't see that I'll be able to get anywhere near that next year which is a shame.
My best round (feeling) was winning one of the first board comps of the year, best score 84, and I've managed several rounds in the 80s which has been good.
However, I still struggle to break 90 most times out, while at the same time feeling as though I could break 80 at any moment......
Handicap started the year at 22.3 and finished on 17.9....

Those courses look stunning. When we visited the Algarve about 20 years ago, we played a par 3 course, Vale de Milo, near Carvoheiro, one of the most beautiful courses I have ever played. I was amazed by the amount of houses close to the fairways.Played 10 holes of the Vila de Lobo Ocean course shortly after landing and a delayed flight - my gosh, it's very tight in places on the front 9 - the fairway basically finishes as the houses start.
