I cannot argue with your logic there Rocket. So how much of your mortgage are you willing to stake on the “all guns blazing” bit?
Whenever England try all guns blazing, they usually aim them at each other
Wouldn’t even risk the small change from down the back of the sofa on such a foolhardy wager.

I fully expect England to carry on in the same vein as the past few seasons ie pretty mediocre and when they do manage to fashion themselves into a promising lead they’ll go all “spursy” and either throw it away entirely or be clinging on for dear life for the final whistle

what do we think of that Eng 23 then? I'm pretty happy with it. Good to see Murley in, and Willis at least on the bench... Should be a good game!
Agreed. With 2 Currys he seems to be targeting the breakdown but it leaves us a little light in the line out but I’m fine with him trying things.
What I like in particular is the bench. OK, there’s the obvious reservation relating to whether the front row can hold their own in the scrum but that said, England in the past year have been fairly competitive for the first 50-60 minutes of games then tailed off but with Chessum, CCS and Willis to bring on that’s a big bench which will hopefully do a job.
I think the England 23 is pretty interesting. Australia showed (in the Autumn game) that if you can disrupt the Irish multi-phase game then you can stifle a lot of their penetration. I think the mobile back row for England is designed to do that. It does leave us short of lineout targets, with Itoje being the obvious one, if I was England at the first lineout I’d mix it up and maybe do a short one to the front to keep Ireland guessing.
I’m not very familiar with Murley but having watched some clips of him he looks tasty. Very pleased that Daly isn’t in the team despite the campaign from the idiot Simon Jones in The Times saying he should be the first name on the team sheet.
6-2 bench split looks about right to me, the forwards get through a lot more work and we need to keep energy up in the last quarter (like we haven’t been). Having a spare 9 & 10 looks about right, the Smiths should be able to move themselves around if needed and Earl can always cover 12/13.
Ideally, we’d be in a stronger position and just field “our” team, rather than mixing it up every week depending on the opposition, but hey ho.
Borthwick calls the Irish team the tournament favourites, but for me it’s France every day. They have strength in depth in every position and increasingly many world class players. How the French teams are going in Europe against everyone else gives an indication of where they are.
I’m minded now to allow non-UK club affiliated players to be in the England team now. We have to recognise that the French league is miles ahead of the Premiership and players get to play with and against more world class players, improving their game. If we want to field the strongest England team we can, then we need to be a bit less parochial.

I'd probably have gone for Theo Dan to start over LCD and I still find the centre partnership unconvincing (but don't have a better offer, so there we go).
I think it should be very interesting.
What difference, if any, does the hive-mind think it'll have with Simon Easterby covering for Farrell?

Being Welsh, I was going to avoid this thread, but like a moth to a flame, I'm drawn in.
Wales are terrible and will be whitewashed. I hope Scotland win the championship, or France.
I’m doing the usual Welsh thing of slating anything to do with Welsh rugby then a few days before kick off going hugely optimistic bordering on insane…. Wales to roll France in game 1, France aren’t ’all that’ and nothing to fear surely? Wales are terrible and will be whitewashed. I hope Scotland win the championship, or France.

Reality says we’re going to get pumped into oblivion

It's the most palindromic car since the original Boxster.
I had to look that word up.
