Thinking of attending the Friday scrum that is the drivers parade.. is it relatively easy to get to from the main entrance, do trams run anywhere near Bleu Nord?

Your best bet would be to walk through to the terminus near the football ground or the stop at Tertre Rouge

you'll need to get over to the MMA at top of Mulsanne, into circuit and through Houx / Garage Vert direction

Been going since 2008, never been to drivers parade!
There's a few on Area 24 (white rabbit racing) that go with the intention of seeing the drivers parade but always miss it...each and every year! biggrin

We go every year form BN. Walk right through the circuit to the tram at Expo or Antares or whatever it's called.

Get on sweaty tram for half an hour to republique (main square).

Get off tram, get beers in nearest bar, go to another bar, head into the old town for dinner.

Completely miss the parade wink

It is there though, we just never see it.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice

Does the town centre get rammed early on Friday or can you still wander around from midday?

We normally set off from the circuit at around 3.00pm plenty of time and space to get some grub and beer and find a decent spot. It is busy but bearable and - IMHO - worth it.

The only thing to watch is that the trams back get a little on the squeeze side. Two years ago on one coming back a poor local lass was trying to squeeze on somewhere and some east end accent shouted out "Any tighter love and the UK's going to reenter Europe!!"

if you can wake up early enough you could get the bus up to the Classic British Welcome.
we used to do that then head back into town for 3ish
after a few years of doing the town centre we then used the bars around the old town and catch the end of the parade
then get on the tram a few stops before it heads to the centre

That isn't difficult. Take the tram to La Place de La Repubique and then the buses run regularly to Saint Saturnin. The 10.43 takes 32 minutes. You can find all the times here:-

indeed, but take the tram just past the place republic and change at Éperon, the bus interchange is just over the road.
and take the bus 20, to Saint Saturnin. its a 10 min walk that end
on return bus get off earlier than Éperon as that stop is not used in the afternoon
I love the bars that end of town

I've done the driver's parade a few times and it has changed a lot, especially since the advent of the tram. The problem is that the pace is getting slower and slower, leading to many cars overheating. I've had to park up on several occasions. Not sure I'll do it again even if invited because the last time I had to change the six plugs and do an oil and filter change..
