Circa £50 and a chance to stand 10 feet away from some of most legendary cars in existence driving past, often flat-out, someones a bit slower is amazing value in my book.

As for prices/elitism, I assume the moaners have never been to a pop concert, a theatre show, or most other big international sporting events which are often far more expensive, both in tickets and food. Have they not noticed corporate boxes at every football/rugby stadium in the country. Try looking at Silverstone ticket prices, which are a multiple of Goodwood for Grandstands etc.

As for some cars being driven slower, well the cars are invited and guess what the owners want to drive themselves (I would) and some are better drivers than others. It's also why the event has a large amount of wealth there, since the 200+ owners of these increasing valuable race cars quite like a nice event, bring friends and family and don't want it to be catered for by a single Greggs stand selling sausage rolls for a quid (which I happen to like but just not at Goodwood).

No doubt FOS isn't for everyone (my wife would hate it) but people come from all over the world for it - and for good reason. This year was my fourth FOS and I tried Thursday for the first time. It's now my favourite day. I also went on Friday and Saturday, mostly to catch up with friends who were going on those days and who, like me, had flown halfway round the world to be there. As always, I loved it. Hell, I even like the traffic snarls. You never know what car you might see. biggrin
