The weather won't cancel it so don't go thinking it will. Coronavirus just might, but it would go down to the wire methinks.
Hmmmm... that's my thinking too. I know Brighton are 'considering' a ban on more than gatherings of 1,000 - whether this expands to Sussex more widely is an unknown.CABC said:
2 week ban on crowds starting on the 14th would be ideal....
just enough to delay any peak demand on nhs to beyond easter. here's hoping.
not that crowds are a problem anyway, it's close proximity and people travelling. My 3' will be with 2 friends and the barman.
I think if Goodwood were to move the dates it would likely clash with another event.just enough to delay any peak demand on nhs to beyond easter. here's hoping.

There are lots of dates being banded around.
To clarify, it is currently 28-29 March, correct?

And as far as I know, there is no current plan to move it again. All that is just talk/scaremongering.
However, if the Government were to ban 'large sporting gatherings' due to nCov-19, then I guess Goodwood would get caught up in it.
More imporantly: The new Member's badge in pink clashes with my car.

It's obviously not the most important thing in the world right now, but based on how timelines have gone in other countries it does seem like the 78MM is going to be bang in the middle of the critical lockdown window.https://www.goodwood.com/motorsport/members-meetin...

The safest place is in the countryside and I'll be standing round the back of the circuit where there are no crowds, enjoyng myself.
That would, in theory, be a good plan. However, the evening entertainment might be a bit of a breeding ground for bugs (all types of cold and flu).
Regardless of the real risk, if the Government decides that gatherings over a certain size are banned, I don't think the finer points of outside events are going to get taken in to account.
The government will be coming under more and more pressure in the next few days to be a bit more proactive and move to the next phase of its plan.
I personally would be amazed if the MM goes ahead. I can see a ban being introduced on all large scale gatherings for at least a month and then it might be subject to review.

I entirely agree - we'll all have to do our bit unfortunately. Gives me more time to prepare the car for a trip to Le Mans in June.I'm coming to the same view. What was going to be my big weekend of Saracens at White Hart Lane then down to the MM is more likely to be 2 days of arse sitting.
It does seem crazy to all gather together in crowds at this time. Having said that I suspect the real hot spots are tubes, trains and pubs!
Not sure I'd spend too much on preparing for Le Mans either!

This is the first year that I will miss it as we are already booked to see a show in London on the Saturday night so if it was moved to another date I would be happy, but I think if it was cancelled there will not be a MM this year.
Personally I would like the London show to be cancelled and then I could try and get a ticket for the weekend if it did go ahead although I dare say there will be a lot of non attendees

There always seems to be quite a few Italians at the MM, even if it goes ahead I suppose they will be absent this year.
I was thinking exactly that. Well not just Italians - any number of overseas drivers, teams, spectators that could well skip this year. I guess teams and drivers are already over though right?
