Beat me to it . There is another version which might be attempted towards the end of the year https://www.strava.com/routes/3245560128254831354Just nice to find the hidden gems in places I would never normally go
Last week, the girls in work asked me if I had any plans for this week, my week off.
I didn't but I decided it might be nice to go somewhere different to ride for a few days.
Snowdonia was chosen, and last Sunday the weather forecast was good, just a 40% chance of rain for one hour each day... so I booked a campsite.
Ten minutes later, the forecast said 80% chance of rain all day every day, which turned out to be pretty accurate
So I've mostly got misty, mean and moody pictures.
I did 3 days, 40/70/40 miles. Speed sensor threw a wobbly when it got wet; cadence packed up completely (hopefully just battery); bar tape fell apart by the end of the 2nd day (it was getting on a bit); left brake mech worked loose on the bars; zip failed on my waterproof phone pouch; and I want a slightly shorter stem - upper arms and neck feeling it more than my legs. Not too bad all in!
Scenery was absolutely stunning around every corner, even when I couldn't see a lot of it; and if you're like me - a sucker for a waterfall/rapids - you'll be in heaven.
There is a bike in this pic (it's a hell of a climb to see pretty much sod all!)

Artist's impression of Snowdon:
I visited my first bike park last week with my brother. Local one in Northampton, built by the council and maintained with the money from the car park. I'd checked it out online first and it seemed like a great place for my first taste of some trails. We chucked the bikes in the van and headed over.
Arrived late morning, the park was nice and quiet and the weather was perfect, dry but not too hot. I started on the easier trails and quickly realised it's not just a case of riding down a hill over some bumps. Lots of people, even my brother, make it look much easier than it is! That didn't deter me though, I quickly started making adjustments to my positioning on the bike, how I approached the corners, the jumps (which were just hills to me at this point) and tried to build on it. I tried each of the green and blue trails, before eventually my brother persuaded me try the red A45 route which was a bit of a rollercoaster for me!
We went for lunch at the golf club before heading back for more. I spent some time on the skills area, eventually getting the hang of the jumps and managing to get over them at bit of speed without feeling like I was going over the bars. After about 2 and a half hours the bikes were down sub 20% battery and I was getting cramp in my legs anyway so we called it a day. Already planning another visit next week and then where to next.
Not many pictures but this trail provided the biggest laugh, first run my brother launched himself in the air and looked like he was on a bucking bronco, followed by the next run him going straight over a berm into a bush.
If I enjoy it and I loose enough weight by the spring I think I'll treat myself to a full suspension bike.

Beautiful British summer scene
Two things leap out at me though Hugo, the red packaging protection on your fork axle and what mad man has a dropper post but leaves it fully extended to get off the bike....?
Think thats the orange sticker on the XT rotor...and clearly a long legged rider; I'd be on the floor if I left my dropper up Two things leap out at me though Hugo, the red packaging protection on your fork axle and what mad man has a dropper post but leaves it fully extended to get off the bike....?
Taking a week's holiday in West Bay, Dorset. I got clearance from the Top Brass to bring my bike down, and today looked like an ideal opportunity to ride it.
Lumpy route, and some issues with rights of way not being signed or maintained, but after a windy, grey start to the day the sun came out and the wind eased. Lovely ride in the end...

I also took my bike on holiday down that way a few years back and remember having issues with non-existent rights of way etc. And then getting really rained on.
Do cyclists actually pay attention to rights of way? Someone confronted me on a old packhorse route recently and I genuinely didn't know it is apperently a footpath. I occasionally see horse manure on that trail too.
