The "Photos From Today's Ride" thread. (Vol. 2)
Discussion
Always nice to participate in a section of the forums I don't usually visit!
Photo from today in Swinley:
I'm very new to cycling, moreso MTB stuff. The bike is an old 26" Giant ATX hardtail (thanks, Facebook marketplace!); recently added some decent knobbly tyres and a cheap set of RockShox to replace the completely shot stock forks, along with a few little upgrades and personal preferences.
It's given me a newfound vigour for the outdoors and trail riding. Can't wait for some decent weather and longer evenings!

Not really bike friendly but made it. Fun coming down though.
Really wanted to get to the remains of the WWII Radar Station but was told to forget that on a bike.
"There's lovely now, isn't it..." as my old Nana used to say.Not really bike friendly but made it. Fun coming down though.

It is a bit of a hike up to the radar station too. Plenty of contour lines, most of them tightly packed together. I'm hoping to get "home" once these pesky Covid restrictions get lifted. I haven't seen my parents for over 18 months now. I'm fancying a crack at Swiss Valley/Cwm Lliedi from the coast path near Burry Port, and maybe to head out toward Margam too. I think I'm going to need a week or more just to carry out all my 'uncle' duties though, before I can even consider sneaking in a long bicycle ride...

Will be good when you’re back. Living away for 15 years was good but hard. Glad we came back & certainly making the most of it.
Great new path down to Burry Port etc now. Recently completed the missing link. Did it a few weeks ago. Easier 34 miler than today’s 24. Drop me a message when you’re back.

Brombil looks fab
A mostly non-veloviewer ride, 100k, to run in my new front tyre... I had a bulging cut in the sidewall
North Dorset Trailway, Blandford
Blandford Camp war memorial beside the A354
The shared use path alongside the A31, Ringwood.
Bournemouth Airport
And a cheeky junction hop on the A338 Bournemouth Spur Road... this may as well have been a cycle lane! But I did have to get around road closed signs and hop a fence to join up with the cycle route through Holdenhurst... still more convenient than finding a different bridge.

Great day out above the clouds yesterday! First time riding a lift access mtb park, downhill all day...

I thought it might be bit rough for my short travel Trance 29 so thrashed one of their rental Remedies for the day instead - value probably worth it just in potential wear&tear and brakes/tyres etc.
The extra suspension travel and lack of caring certainly made it much easier to smash through rough stuff, but the Remedy geometry didn't really suit me - very low stack height which was ok with wheels on the ground but I found I was getting pitched forward a lot on jumps which dented the confidence with a few close calls. Good learning experience anyway and still had a lot of fun.

Kinda forget how nice the local area is really down here on the south coast for MTB. Did over 30 miles today (forgot to start Strava fr a bit at the start...) and covered uphill, downhill, fully dried muddy trails that punished my standard Suntour forks, flooded sections deep enough to dip my crank and narrow cut-through trails through the edges of farmland and then there's the sea views too... Seemed like plenty more to discover in the middle of the top lot so loads of return potential.
Also came across some deer chilling out, along with photo-deer hunters in full camo

45 miles through some of the beautiful Cotswolds and this is all I could come up with in the photo department. Slumped on the floor propped up against a flower bed. The lemon cake was delicious as was the double espresso.
I'm enjoying my special Italian custom ratio cassette. All the middle gears and none of the extreme wasted ones.

More info on that cassette please!I'm enjoying my special Italian custom ratio cassette. All the middle gears and none of the extreme wasted ones.
Quick evening spin after work to try my new wheels out (second set (previously enjoyed) fitted with 42mm slicks)...
Cannondale Lefty front hub, Hope Pro4 rear hub, standard Mavic 419 rims, Hope 160mm front and 140mm rear floating rotors.
Comfy, without the drag of the WTB Resolutes fitted to the other OE wheel set.
