Like I said I "wasn't sure". Happily corrected, but I am almost certain I have seen bikes on trains at those times.

I think that as long as the trains aren't rammed then you'll be OK.

The weekly (or more frequent!) threads in GG about "bloody cyclists" make me smile. It would seem that it is sufficiently rare for someone to notice an idiot on a bike that it warrants the starting of a thread. I'm sure all of us that cycle to work could start a new thread every day about multiple idiot drivers we encounter on each ride.
I think the thing that pushes some people into an us-and-then mentality is the lunatic fringe - for instance:

Dunno about that, I had a few weeks when I couldn't drive recently, so walked in to the office or got the bus. I got wet considerably more times than I didn't.
Apparently on a 20-min each way commute you'll get rained on about 16 times over the year. That was about right by my experience - it rains a lot but it's rare for it to actually happen when you're out. Proper mudguards keep off any water from the wet roads.
I've got some good news - we're going to be in for a very dry remainder of the year - out of just a dozen days I've cycled in, I've got soaked (and I mean properly soaked) 4 times now - so only another 12 to go and only 5% of a years commute covered... hehe

Now got a more suitable bike and a secure place to put it and have to say I'm hooked.

Highly recommended and you'll learn loads about road observation for the car as well. wink
