Hi all. Another new FK8 owner here , 71 plate in red, last of the sportlines with delivery miles. Wife loves it and it looks great parked next to my Griffith 500.
Nice choice, mine is a 70 plate red, cracking cars. I've just had 3 way Nitrons developed and are now on, ready for some track work Thought id say hello , i am a long time Type R owner and have owned my FK8 since January 2020 , dearest click an collect item ive ever bought.
Its polished metal . Since owning it , ive tried to not mod it. Its an amazing machine. I have had the intercooler replaced with a PRL , the intake is PRL , and ive had the exhaust replaced with a catback HKS .
Ive had the ecu jailbroken , and Hondata downloaded so its been mapped by AP.
So the figures as ran on dyno hubs is 373 brake. I forget the torque. Plenty quick though.

Hi everyone, new FK9 owner here.Picked up a 2020 in Sonic Grey Pearl with only 4k miles.Sold a 996 which I'd owned for 10 years to buy the R and so far I am well happy with my choice. The only thing I am missing is the sound of the Porsche 3.6 flat 6 especially at high revs.
Desparately trying to keep it standard but a little more noise and grunt would be fun right? Thinking cat back, intake, light tune to bring it all together.i will also get some winter wheels and tyres as I always do with my cars.
Wife has a GR Yaris circuit pack which I also really like and funnily we were sooo close to getting an FK8 but decided on the GR.I got fed up of spending on the 996 every year so decided to get the FK8 for myself.
Looking forward to a trip to the south of france in July, we'll be doing it in one hit, the R will be a brilliant ride for that trip.
Niggles, I have the dreaded dashboard rattle which I think I may have already located and part fixed, other than that it's perfect.

No, not knackered. You always get these cracks with Drilled Discs, but if the cracks link up hole to hole then yes, knackered. Later Corvettes also have this issue and its addressed in the owners manual. If you decide to get different rotors, slotted only are the way to go.

Another FK8 owner here

Any of you guys changed out exhaust parts? My Son would like it a bit louder than stock but I don't want to get into tunes and mapping and the engine management system throwing codes.
Leave the catalyst alone unless you like noise and scraping MOTs (And having to play with mapping!)If you get a frontpipe & "Catback" (Many exhausts are sold as catbacks but are actually frontpipe back) you'll get a nice tone and unlock most of the power you can with an exhaust, with no requirement to map (Good baseline if you do in future though)
I have a Remus, which since hearing, two others I know locally have also gone out and bought :P The Valved design is very nice as you've got the best of all worlds in terms of volume, and a very nice underlying tone.
These are such great cars I bought one for a Ring trip earlier this year and fell in love!

I was a bit concerned having read reports of overheating and fuel surge but never experienced either. Summer as well so it was pretty warm about 26 degrees ambient from memory.
I now have a white one with only 15000 miles on it they are such a great all round car.

Just a word of caution for all FK8 owners.
We bought a new car in Sept 2019, so just gone 4 years old. Currently 27.000 miles.
Last month coming home from a short break the car came to an abrupt halt on the Tingley roundabout Junc 28 M62.
A frightening experience, cars flying past either side, we didn't even feel safe to get out of the car.
It took 4 hrs to be rescued, the car needed a flatbed truck, I never realised there is no front tow hook!
The car eventually ended up the next day at Wakefield Honda & we were told the Fuel Pump/Module needed replacing.
I wasn't too concerned as we had 5 year cover on the car.
It was only when I did a bit of searching I realised Honda had a recall on Civic Fuel pumps in 2020.
Honda are adamant my car was not involved in the recall & yet the pump failed!
So if you have an FK8 & the fuel pump has not been changed, just be aware this might happen to you.

There are front tow hooks but they're under the bumper on the subframe, so pulling them usually means damaging the bumper / splitter too.The car eventually ended up the next day at Wakefield Honda & we were told the Fuel Pump/Module needed replacing.
The fuel pump recall is fairly well known on the US Forums - Most people seem to have it die when they try turning on (A rather less catastrophic failure mode!)
In the US they have essentially said it is "All cars" - Literally everything; CRV, HRV, NSX, Civic etc. etc. but they were releasing the recall in waves by VIN number due to part availability.
Usually there are also hard / long starts or general "rough running" sensations as a precursor to failure too, but it can be completely random.
The fuel pump supplier didn't correctly cure the impeller plastics in production, so they gradually swell and become stuck.
For anyone who hasn't had a replacement, and is in the date range given in the US Recalls, it's probably worth asking the dealer service department directly to check for any TSB / Recalls on the honda internal systems.

Thanks for this info. The worry is if your car is not on the recall list, it can still happen, as it did to us!The fuel pump recall is fairly well known on the US Forums - Most people seem to have it die when they try turning on (A rather less catastrophic failure mode!)

Our car gave us no warning whatsoever, it just stalled & wouldn't start. Imagine that happening at motorway speed!
Used car prices have re aligned in recent months for mainstream stuff, for cars like the FK8 type R being rare and specialised the market is trying to find its level. On one hand boggo basic civics are/have dropped in value, but with the latest model being a bit of a hero car, and a nearly £50k,being not that different to the FK8, prices of FK8's are confused. If you can't get an FL5, the FK8 is a damn good substitute as a top notch drivers car, so the prices of these rise towards the FL5.
