2023 Honda Type R - FL5 availability

HUK has stated over numerous mainstream media that availability in the UK will be in the hundreds not thousands during its production run.

Honda has order books for 3 years filled in Japan, the US is the biggest market.

They wouldn’t say why - but they had ‘better’ (multiple previous purchases) customers ahead of me who missed out….

Was able to get a quick demo at a dealer who has one in stock.

Like all OEM ICE it’s typical sounding and will do the job for majority of users. The Bose offers the sub but in all honesty any Bose products I have had in cars have been pretty pathetic and if you appreciate audio in your car you have to look at aftermarket.

If buying an FL5 this would be on my to do list to sort out in early ownership

The colour seems like the most contentious element at the moment. Either white or blue will keep me happy. Seems like you don’t find out until it’s being shipped to the dealer.

Adequate - Apple car play had a small glitch that seems to have worked itself out... Sound is as you'd expect but the road noise is quite high.

Just started opening the revs out (been keeping them low to run it in) and that engine goes ballistic above around 6k rpm.... shift lights flashing at you all the way!

Biggest issue is the Fuel tank! Seems it shares it with the Hybrid and in TINY! I filled it from empty with Momentum 99 for £35!!! Gone be at the forecourt a LOT!

^ spec says it is 47 litres - yes smaller than typical, but 35 quid to fill up???

Fuel tank size is frustrating, but at 75p per litre where are you getting your fuel

It’s high stakes roulette!

One of the problems with a very low allocation, I read that Canada are only getting 300 over the next 2 years! Thankfully I don’t have to buy the car if it turns up in pink

Also Wireless Android Auto does work well but is not enabled by default (Press Home + Audio power + Left Seek for system menu) , Yes fuel tank is tiny and the reserve warning seems a bit premature , I ran mine down to 8 miles remaining but could only get 37 litres in it, will have to put a fuel can in the boot and run it down further , only other niggle is the LED main beam headlights are not up to the performance, and aren't matrix but they do dip promptly.

I’ve heard the headlights could be better, annoying but not a show stopper.

I've just been given my dealers second allocation and I've chosen Sonic Grey I'm told It's coming beginning March!
