Thanks, I'll be honest I really wasn't sure what colour to go for! but always remember seeing a few Sonic Grey FK8's and thinking It stood out. And they stopped offering this colour some way through the FK8's life cycle.

Nice one

Surprised at how quick the 2nd allocation is arriving to dealers … Considering the length of time for 1st allocation.

TBH all the colours are decent … only colour missing is InDy Yellow Pearl

I'd be speaking to the dealer since April last year so they sold the first one late Dec/early Jan then I was approached about a second coming March. I do wonder how many will end up being sold in the UK 1 every 3 months maybe per dealer!? who knows,

Price is going up for the next allocation and unknown yet when, talked about Q3.

Only 120 being delivered next month, stopped selling them in Japan and unknown if will be getting anymore.

Picked mine up at the start of the month. Very little opportunity to do any miles so far, so still only 80 since picking it up, but hoping that will change significantly in the coming weeks.

Great looking car - favourite angle definitely the bulging arches... Seats wonderful, engine pulls really well (although running in limits frustrating!). All the touchpoints (steering wheel / gear lever / seats etc) are lovely - feels really special to be in.

Obligatory photos! (hopefully done this right!)

Anyone contemplating PPF or feel the need for paint correction pre/post delivery?

Paint correction doesn’t bother me so much, but I’m going to get a front bumper and bonnet PPF. New car paint is thin and stone chips do bother me.

I don’t usually modify my cars, but I’ve seen some pictures with a gloss black roof wrap and they look good. I’ve also thought about changing the wheel colour to more of a raw/dark alloy.

I’m probably just trying to pass the time until I get the car and other than PPF it won’t change much.

Did anyone go for any of the optional extras? £1k for a light pack seems a bit excessive.

My dealer advised against the lighting pack as the ambient lighting in the doors and front footwell is standard (also overhead white waterfall/ambient light) the pack only added cupholder and door handle lighting - customers of the hybrid civic had been disappointed with their version of it - they also have to dismantle the console and doors to fit it which put me off it as well.

I went for the Carbon pack as I prefer the shape of the Carbon wing, but only the console carbon had arrived when the car did , I'm pleased with it , but it will be March before the wing and sill strips arrive and the car will finally be as ordered and I can then post some pics!

The Carbon door strips - not included in the pack which is a shame as they would be seen more than the sill strips - look good so I think I will order those as well.

The fitted type r rubber boot mat is worth going for it fits well is grippy for dogs and is tough. I also ordered two sets of the type r mats , so I can use a set and not worry about mucking them up.

Yes, Honda paint is terrible, regretted not having it done on my FK8.

I didn't take any of the options as they all seemed rather pricey.

Mats are a good idea - hadn't twigged that it didn't come with any (they are always there in other cars!)

Paint protection - hadn't thought of this. Probably depends on where I'm actually going to drive it. If you were going to track it or ply the motorways, then seems like a no-brainer, but I'm hoping this will be a quiet country road car for me (if they still actually exist...)

Adequate - Apple car play had a small glitch that seems to have worked itself out... Sound is as you'd expect but the road noise is quite high.

Just started opening the revs out (been keeping them low to run it in) and that engine goes ballistic above around 6k rpm.... shift lights flashing at you all the way!

Biggest issue is the Fuel tank! Seems it shares it with the Hybrid and in TINY! I filled it from empty with Momentum 99 for £35!!! Gone be at the forecourt a LOT!
Just found the same thing with the fuel tank. 240 miles from full, but only 36.5 litres to full. Supposed to be much bigger than that, but the fuel light had been on for 20 miles and it said only 14 miles left.

Very strange.

Lovely and congrats.

I’m fed up with waiting…. PPF booked in and I’ll think I’ll leave it at that. The black wheels have grown on me.

I'm wondering whether there are two low fuel systems in the car and they're out of sync, like other posters the most I have managed to get in the R is 38 litres , according to the manual there should be a low fuel light that comes on when approx 7 litres are left - I haven't seen that come on yet , but I have had the range go down to 9 or 10 miles and the refuel recommendation come up.

I've seen in the infotainment under general settings there is an option called 'Refuel Recommend' which is on by default , I'm wondering if this is turned off you can just drive until the fuel light comes on - will try it with a fuel can in the boot!

Not quite true - this from Honda.co.jp web page for the car in question:

"Apology for temporary suspension of orders for customers considering CIVIC TYPE R

Thank you for considering our vehicle.

Since its launch, CIVIC TYPE R has been well received by customers, and we have received a large number of orders.
On the other hand, due to the impact of the spread of the new coronavirus infection, chronic semiconductor shortages,
unstable parts arrival and delays in logistics, it is difficult to forecast future production.
In order to ensure the delivery of CIVIC TYPE R to all customers who have already placed orders, we
have temporarily stopped accepting orders.

Regarding the resumption of orders, we will inform you again based on the future production situation.
We deeply apologize for causing great inconvenience to customers who are considering it.
Thank you for your understanding."

Not that much of a shock, as the car is Car of the Year in Japan for this year.
