The single best thing I've done since starting trackdays is to buy a Lotus, and gain access to a marque specific TDO.

I've done many <insert mainstream TDO here> days prior to buying a Lotus, and only a couple since... each time deciding I'd never book on again unless it was a Lotus specific TDO.

I feel like many circuits are booked to breaking point with the mainstream organisers, and as much as I love to see our hobby being popular (that's only good for us consumers), I can't say that I've enjoyed my last few days sharing Blyton park with 59 other cars or whatever their limit is.

I'm not saying that all Lotus drivers are amazing, that's not what makes the days better - but the group is generally much smaller and the driving standards just seem to be better as a result. If you're quick, you don't need to bully your way around slower cars to get a clean lap in and if you're slow - there's plenty of track to slip into a nice gap and just have some fun building up gradually. I think if more TDO's would pop up with a higher price, but only booking on 2/3 as many cars that they would quickly get a positive reputation and bad days would be few and far between.

Just been on a TVR Car Club track day at Cadwell Park.
55 cars in total.
Damp in the morning, dry in the afternoon.
No red flags all day.
Yes, there was one accident, but that was the lap before lunch and was covered by yellows.
Driving standards excellent all day, which backs up the poster before me.
Unusually for a track day, I was not held up once, courtesy and good use of mirrors was the name of the game.

Oh, and Mr Clarkson......not one TVR broke down all day, not even the 1960s cars.

Reassuring! I'm on the no noise limits one in August.
