You miss the point, the cage argument has nothing to do with angles. With a 3 point belt, when you roll it and the roof comes down, you get pushed sideways. With a harness holding you bolt upright, your neck snaps.

The question becomes, does the marginally improved protection in a sudden stop outweigh the risk in a rollover - noting that many modern cars have some degree of rollover protection built in and it's not a granted that the car is going to finish up sitting on your head. Personally I'd say no, but up to you.

Never thought of it that way, quite a good point.

My only counter argument would be that on the road and even on track, rollovers are a lot rarer than sudden stops.

Better than a cage with no harnesses, that makes me cringe every time i see it!
