The "I've not been furloughed" thread
Discussion
I was furloughed for the first 3 weeks and resented the hell out of it, I wanted to be at work earning my full wages. Then got called back and it’s been mental ever since. No annual leave can be booked no bonus or overtime being paid but have had a couple of weeks of 12 or 13 hour days.
I know I have a job and a decent wage so should be thankful, but the guys on Furlough seem to be enjoying life a bit more than me at the moment.
I have spent a fair amount of time in hotels and that’s no fun at all at the moment.
Thankfully we are bringing more people back each week so should return to some form or normal hours.
Would like to think in the future the company will recognise the efforts put in by those working through it but I doubt it.
You are correct your mental health takes a beating. Was absolutely sick of being away from my family a couple of weeks ago almost told them to stick the job but then remembered the mortgage.

Yep, same hereStressed, not sleeping, very snappy - not good at all
I've been working from home and had the two kids (4 and 2) for company since mid March, the wife was furloghed for about 6 weeks in the middle which helped, but is now back in the office.
Prior to today the longest time I'd spent out the house/away from the family on my own since lockdown began was about 3 hours.
Finally today they went back to nursery (2 days/week).
I don't half feel guilty about being so relieved to spend some time on my own working, but I could feel the stress of work/family really beginning to grind me down, and them to be honest. Although I'm actually now looking forward to them being home again with me on Thursday.

Would love to have been furloughed, my company are topping up to 100% although I appreciate it might cause some anxiety about being laid off...
Been working from home as normal, loved working from home though and I'm praying it continues!
Same here, although we're starting to bring people back into the office. Lucky buggers have been loving their 12 weeks off with full pay!Been working from home as normal, loved working from home though and I'm praying it continues!
I have said for a long time that working from home is the environmental saviour we need. Imagine how many car journeys we would save if this becomes the norm. For me it means I can justify something very thirsty as a daily
I work from home most of the time anyways so it is not that much different.
The fundamental change is that Tribunals are not really operating in person hearings therefore a few things are just sitting there not being able to be dealt with which will delay cases and of course it means I don't go out of the house to work at all....

Would normally work 2-3 days a week from home and somewhere else in UK or europe for the rest.
I've been working flat out ever since & struggling to keep head above water since late feb as work introduced travel bans...
I wonder how we ever managed to survive with travelling loaded on top. Sat staring at screens attached to the same wall is not good for your sanity.
Work has not furloughed anyone and we are being forced to take days leave by the end of August to reduce outstanding leave to 50%.
There are plans to re-open offices but everybody is expecting that we will continue to spend more time working from home...
I do feel lucky - and am continuing to worry about what the hell will happen next - things personally could be an awful lot worse.

Haven't been furloughed but my company wants me to take holiday because they don't want everyone coming back with 25 days holiday to take.
Bit resentful really as we've had our targets upped and are constantly being monitored yet it looks like others in the department might be off until October on full pay, if I'd have known I could have 6 month off stress free and still come back with all my holidays I'd have snapped their hands off.
We've largely been unaffected.

From my perspective I think its a problem with communication
Too many teams/zoom/Skype (which is good I guess) but there seems to be a lack of cohesion and management between which a good old F2F would facilitate
Deadlines are looming, tempers are fraying etc which is usual. However this time the lack of cohesion is magnifying it all

I went out to the F1 test in Barcelona in February for a break and since then I've been working 6 days a week. Initially from home but I have been back in the office now for about a month and working long hours.
Pressure is on to catch up on production time lost during the lockdown and we have reduced office staff doing the same (if not more) work load.
I'm grateful to still be working especially as some other office staff are still on furlough with an uncertain future, but it has been tough. Just looking down the road where I might still be able to take a few weeks off.
If travel restrcitions weren't in place I would be tempted to head off for a while...

Absolutely agree with this. I've reached a point now of refusing to attend meetings in order to be able to do my actual job.On the holiday front I've tried to take the odd half day here and there just to get away from the laptop and spend some time playing with the kids. It's been a big help. Off next Monday pm to go to the Zoo with them.
Coronavirus might as well not have happened as far as I’m concerned. Nothing really changed for me - same shifts, days off, a bit of annual leave here and there - just cracking on with it.
Only noticeable change is the commute. Roads were deserted at the beginning of all this but are now getting busier and trains are bliss and are actually a pleasure to use so long as you avoid the early ‘builders specials’.

Youre not alone. Very happy to have a job of course, but working for the nhs I am working 7-3, then looking after the children whilst my wife starts her job. Stressed, putting on weight, faling asleep at unusual times. like everyone the holidays I have had booked have been cancelled, so there isnt a lot to look forward to.
The way we are working is changing in an almost weekly basis, so what we did last week isnt quite the same this week. And a lot of poeple are expecting me to know all the answers- the see the nhs lanyard in the street.
I think the hardest part is that we all know it will end, we just dont know when. Having an end point is a goal to work towards.
