Do you think perhaps, just perhaps, it might be different in other industries and professions? rolleyes

As for leaving on good terms, grown-ups realise that
a) it’s a professional thing to do
b) you never know who you might bump into in later life.
Not really no. Companies dont care about you. You need to realise this. Once your not wanted by them, they wouldn't think twice about giving you the chop. I learned that many years ago.

I wouldn't know about other industries. Why would I? I've been in engineering since I left college. If your good enough, work comes easy and you can choose who you want to work for. Whilst there is a shortage of skilled people, this will always be the case.
Newsflash: whilst you get paid by a company, you work for a human and humans care about you - positively or negatively.

People remember your actions and what you’re like. When you then bump into them in another role in a few years’ time, guess who’ll remember the knob who walked without working his notice?

If you only know engineering and can’t acknowledge that things may be different outside of that field, maybe don’t offer advice to people who aren’t in engineering….

Why would I need to? Do other people care if I shop in aldi's or waitrose?

Get real. The sooner you realise the difference between business and pleasure, you'll understand how people treat each other.

I've never liked anybody I work with, neither have I ever socialised with them either. I dont go to any 'work events' either. I go to work to earn money, not find out how Craig's sister is.

I used hate roy Keane as a footballer, but now I see what he used to be. Pure class.

I'm looking at my next investment, not paying £12 to play in the works football team on a Wednesday night.
