I have seen 1 x M3 and 1 x M4 on the road. So they are not selling well. Also, completely silent due to PF etc.

All theses things mean this new CSL will lack character. Suppose thats progress!
Overpriced and ugly isn't helping them is it?! M4 just looks awkward, M3 is better but I still don't like the front end. I don't doubt how these things drive and how quick they feel btw.

Or supply issues? I think they look great and are well priced, particularly compared to older M5s of the same size but heavier with less power.

I’ve seen a handful of each round my way and more further a field but… all manufacturers are suffering from the chip shortage. I’m not seeing lots of new AMG’s, RS’s or other high end cars on the roads either.

On M3 cutters there are a few that ordered G8X towards the end of '21 and have yet to get their cars , one guy ordered in October and has yet to get his car , what with LCI due later this year its a hard call and more so for this CSL

The base G80 xdrive is almost £81k now, there have been at least 3 price increases since April 21 when I ordered my G82 (Which took over 6 months to arrive and was only delayed by the chip shortage rather than the loom issues)

FWIW I see more G8X cars than I see F80's around here, perhaps I just notice them more, but I've not seen the 'vert in the flesh yet

From what I have read

F82 - 7m52
F82 CS - 7m38
F82 GTS - 7m28

G82 Competition rwd - 7m30
G82 Comp xdrive - 7m28

So the CSL has to be looking at sub 7m20 I would think

According to this - it will be 1435kg!!! (which would be amazing!)

https://plugavel.com/3271/car/new-bmw-m4-csl-disco...
There is no way it will weigh 250kg less than a regular M4 the original M3 CSL struggled to get 100kg lighter than the contemporary M3.
If this car uses 2wd and a manual gearbox and some serious CF and composite then it may get to near 1550kg but it sounds automatic to my ears and that means 1600kg even in stripped out poverty spec (No rear seats, fixed CF buckets, delete A/C an infotainment etc) .
But M are bang on form though these days - I think it's going to be epic

Was struggling to make sense of your 'race car lighter than road car comment', then saw you actually like the way G8x cars look........carry on.

Not very difficult. You mentionned a Touring car winning CSL, which is utterly irrelevant in the context of a road car.

But in the interest of fairness, I checked the weight of the road going 3.0 CSL and what a porker at 1,270 khs considering its size and lack of NVH / safety / equipment. I am sure you would enjoy driving it though, I certainly would.

The fact that I like the look of a car really has nothing to do with anything. I have disliked good looking cars and owned some ugly ones for the way they drive.

With Cup 2R tyres? That would be a pretty soft target - I reckon they'll aim for around 7m10 to 7m15.

Completely agree Nick - I'd prefer an ugly but awesome driving car to a pretty but awful to drive car. Ideally, I'd like something both good-looking and awesome to drive but you can't always get what you want...

Does anyone know what gearbox this car is getting please?

1. A manual? - Be awesome but I’d be very surprised
2. A DCT? - Given the expected price point, this is the minimum it should have
3. An auto sane as the standard M4 - a cheap option by BMW, IMHO totally out of place in a “CSL” product.

The manual can’t support the power and neither can the old f8x dct so it will be the 8 speed unless BMW want to totally redesign the car and gearbox of course

Well if that’s the case, shame on BMW for not developing a more appropriate box for what will be a very expensive niche product.

It will definitely have the auto but it should still be pretty good!

I'm not sure much has changed since you last asked the same question.

Redesign the car and an entirely new gearbox for the sale of 3000 units ?

My take on all this CSL news

Buy a car with an engine you can hear, that weighs less than an oil tanker and has a DCT box, before you cant anymore

My M2C arrives on Thursday.

Isn't the G already available in some markets with a manual gearbox?
