Good to see this thread pop up. I put a deposit down on a build slot earlier this year with my local dealer so am just waiting to hear what happens next to be honest.

I've no idea what colour to go for though. I've always liked Techno Violet and from what I've seen so far, I picking a colour which will contrast with the roof and the other black parts of the car will be what I go for.

I think I've been waiting for this car for as long as I can remember... or at least since I sold my M5 Touring all those years ago.

I remember them talking about doing a manual one in the early days, any word of that coming to anything or are they all automatics?

Is the DCT box on the current M3/M4 the same as the one fitted to the 2019 M2 Competition do you know or is it a revised one?

That’s not what he asked

I would assume the dct in the current m2 bears a great deal of similarity to the old f series one

Apologies, I'm not up on the terminology or even the model numbers as I've been away from BMWs for a good few years. I've been disappointed by the gearbox in the M2 though, so was just wondering what is in the current gen M3. I guess I should maybe see if the dealer has a demonstrator on at the moment.

@catfood12, thanks for the spec link. I've been using the configurator for a saloon and the info on your link and come up with what I think I'd order if I get a confirmed slot.

  • A silver/grey colour to highlight the black styling elements and the roof. Although I've always loved Daytona Techno Violet...
  • 825M alloys
  • Blue calipers
  • 50th anniversary badges
  • Comfort Pack although can't say I'm bothered about the heated steering wheel
  • Visibility Pack
  • Technology Plus Pack
Not sure about the interior although I do like the Kyalami orange and black leather. I guess extended is the way to go.

BTW, what's the expectation with the Touring will it become a regular feature of the lineup or are we thinking its going to be a one-off for the 50th year celebration? Either way, I wonder how many they'll produce.

Interview with Dirk Hacker (M Division head of development) in Evo magazine said “We have planned volume for this car and I think we will overfullfill it”.

I also heard limited supply to the UK in 2023, so feels like it is going to be a production model for a couple of years but possibly not as plentiful as the saloon and M4.

It’s going to be in production as long as the M3 saloon is. AFAIK that’s still around 10/2027.

Not limited edition but limited by supply and demand. If they can make enough for the overwhelmingly interest there appears to be.

visited my local dealer (in Luxembourg) to ask if they knew what the price would be and what might delivery date look like
Answers; Price? we have no idea. Delivery dates: we will get showroom example in December and customer delivery August 23.....maybe!!
May I order one now anyway? Not possible Sir!

The world has gone crazy!!

Well, officially, order books don't open until September 22nd I think, this is what they said at the UK unveiling.

Guess some folks have been able to bypass this through their dealers.

You can look at this link to get an idea of the price and options in GBP. It was posted here and on social media.

https://its-juice-2.foleon.com/explore-bmw/discove...

I've been using that and the current M3/M4 configurator to get an idea of options and cost.

My dealer told me my touring m3 has a build week 44. Should be here for Xmas he thinks.

Nice one, well done!

I've emailed my dealer to see if they've had any confirmed allocation or when I can move to an actual order.

I can't decide on colour either. I think it looks great (as does their current M cars) in a grey/silver as it contracts really well with the black roof and intakes, detailing etc.

The standard blue also looks really nice.

I've always like Techno Violet, but am guessing that's going to be an expensive option and will delay build too? But might be worth waiting for...

Suggestion dealers are only getting 2 M3 Tourings each per quarter. So that will be 2 each this year … must be about 300 in total across the UK in 2022 and about 1200 in 2023. There were 585 M3/M4’s delivered to the UK in Q1 2022 so whilst appears the Touring will be fairly exclusive it would appear to be a fair incremental addition to the G80 model line up and getting the same proportion allocation as other body types.

Yes, I've seen similar mentioned on social media. I asked my dealer about it and they've not been given their allocation yet.

I heard that someone managed to get 3% discount

In my experience dealers are saying to take the slot at list or they will offer it to the next on the waiting list. No discounts from my experience unfortunately. Unsurprisingly my G80 M4 Comp appears to have suffered huge depreciation in the eyes of the same dealer!
