Hi guys,

I’ve got a 213 316D F30 and recently for no apparent reason the sidelight on the drivers side has packed up. The lights are the big standard halogen type not led or xenon. The bulb is fine but whenever I turn the switch on the sidelight doesn’t activate. Headlight and main beam are fine just the sidelight.

I’ve unplugged the light and tested the connector with a basic circuit tester - the ‘parking light’ wire (according to diagrams I’ve seen online which I’ve marked in the attached) isn’t registering any power at all. When I test the passenger side that one generates power when the switch is on.

I’ve tapped into the actual cable on the drivers side but still no power so it’s not the connector nor is it the headlight or bulb. However there are signs of water ingress in the connector with some of the terminals showing corrosion and the actual cabling inside looks black where I’ve tapped in.

The problem is that I can’t seem to track the cable much further as it gets lost into dozens of other wires within the loom.

I’ve checked fuses in the fuse box but again nothing wrong there.

Can anyone advise on how I can track the fault? Or whether there’s anywhere I can easily tap into further down the line to see if there’s power?

Cheers everyone.
