Hi!!

Have any of you lot got Pilot cup tyres on the car, if yes, how bad are they in the wet?? Im asking as I have just put the deposit on an 04 black CSL with cup's on and worried about driving in bad weather before I have time to change the tyres!

Thanks

Sacha

Hi, I have cups on mine. It was hammering down a few weeks back and was on the motorway with standing water on parts of the road and it wasnt a problem as long as you are careful. I had no probs doing 70mph.

wtf are you on about? did you not read my post? it was full of compliments about the 911 but it does have lots of negatives about it as well.

I will enjoy passing all those 911s on track! well the 3.4 and 3.6 NAs anyways and keeping up with the GT3s.

I see you got the C4s...all show and no go! should have gone for the turbo mate! 4wd drive as well..yuk! cardinal sin for a 911. too scared to corner a 2wd version?? ;-)

as I said it was the right time for me, got some good money for it and I will go back to a GT3 at some stage.

so I don't think I will be disappearing into mondeo obscurity somehow!!

always fancied a CSL and I must say it is a superb car to drive all round!

hehe too right on being a wimp with the 4wd, I'll use all the technology they can put on it! (Don't see F1 boys saying, hmm no thanks, I'll pass on the software thanks) and come on, admit that you feel at least a 'little' inferior now you drive a beamer! No school boy EVER goes 'ooh look, a BMW'... because all their mums drive them to school in one.. nerd

I for one don't feel inferior in the slightest. Not that I felt any form of superiority in the Porsche unlike you by the sounds of things.

Nope, I've definitely made the best decision here - the car is streets ahead of the Porsche for me - I'm chuffed to bits

yeah, keep convincing yourself getting rid of the 911 was the right thing to do as you vanish into ford mondeo obscurity hehe

Not another Porsche 'Master-Baiter' on here!! hehe The CSL is a supercar-slayer and it's discreet to boot! Guess you boys just can't take having your ass whooped by a better car! As for trying to impress schoolkids, if that floats your boat, you carry on mate!

DasChin, you made the right move, enjoy it.thumbup

*yawn*

With respect, go back to the Porsche forum. It's a clever trick, but we've seen plenty of non-BMW owners talking out of their arses round here of late so it's not as impressive as it used to be.

I have to admit though, I've not managed to seduce one single school boy since getting mine. Maybe he has a point? scratchchin

Ah, badge-snobbery. It's stuff like that Porsche vs. BMW nonesense that gives drivers of nice cars a bad name.

Edited not to feed the Trolls

Well mate, round south west london, 996s are a dime a dozen. Ford Mondeos are an endangered species. So far after a week i've had more enthusiast attention than i got in a year in the 911. And my local NCP parking attendant seems to have been giving me a discount since I got the bimmer...

It's the roar, CF roof and ducktail boot that does it!

I think the brochure says it best; "Carbon trim is pretty nice. A carbon roof is pretty serious!"

Gotta laugh........................What a load of crap goin on here re the old 911/BMW banter.

I love my Porsches probably more than most (especially on here) I'll always own at least one..........a great all rounder etc etc.

But when you guys start talking about you massive inferiority complex when driving a BM then I reckon there's a big problem upstairs in the cabbage dept.

Who gives a toss what people think.............I have a Manx Beach Buggy that gets more attention than anything I have ever owned....That doesn't make it a good car does it?

The CSL is a superb car and the guys with the Porsches in the main cannot come to terms with it. I was at Goodwood last week in the CSL on a Porsche Club day and went past most inc GT3s and 997 Turbos.

CSL = much more grin factor.....I love it.

If you have to point out that your beemer has a carbon fiber roof in order not to be mistaken for a 'mum-bus' then you've got a major problemo. It's a three series... the cheapest styled model. I'll let you off if you have an M6, as at least those boys won't be mistaken for 'Kevin from accounts'!!

My name is kevin and I work in accounts, what is wrong with being mistaken for me, my mum says I'm quite a catch.

PS. 4wd is gay.

last time I looked at the nearest school it was all porsche cayennes mate and 911 cabs! you are talking out of yr ass.

if you have to defend your 4wd beetle then fair enough mate but you bought the wrong one! ha ha! I got the right Bimmer at least.

last time I read about F1 then it was the regs that pin it back. the drivers all want to go back to slicks, less wings to make it more fun and more engaging. the cars drive much better with out TC and it sorts out the men from the boys

bit like a 2wd 911 and a gay boy 4wd.

looks like you can't shake off the hairdresser thing eh! C4s is the utlimate trimmers mobile.

C4S Cab next sir?
