I'm weighing up the prospect of upgrading to a CSL & am searching for insurance quotes.
The cheapest so far is around £1,100 fully comp.

This seems expensive, considering that my insurance on my M Coupe is ~£500.

Does anyone know of a specialist who might be able to beat the 1k barrier?

Group 22 is never going to be anything other than expensive.

group 22?
I thought the highest group was 20?

in that case I suppose £1100 isn't *too* outrageous

I would have thought an M5 would be cheaper to insure.

Similar purchase price, much more common, parts easier to come by, more perceived sensible use etc...

The M5 is a circa 200 mph car though!

I checked and yes, there are now 22 insurance groups with many companies.

Try APlan:

www.aplan.co.uk

I got a quote for £979 im 29 m 5yr NCB no points or accidents. I think it was underwritten by Servis. Just trying to decide wether the cost savings are worth swaping from my current insurer (If I wait untill May I will get another years NCB, but they are £500 more/year).

Don't cover trackdays though If you find one that does let me know, most I have talked to want me to be over 30 or the car to be worth less than £30K...

Insure with NIG. 36yrs old, full NCB, clean licence, tracker etc = £638 / year. Was well happy with this.

Try:

Adrian Flux
Liverpool Victoria (Frizzell)
or
Thompson Heath & Bond (Lloyds Broker with specialist competition car dept) they do limited mileage cover with cover for 'properly organised' track days

I pay about £600 - 36 yoa, loads of NCB.

Note: some insurers give 'club' discounts. Just mention any Owners Clubs that you belong to.
