I have got an immobiliser on my five where you hold what looks like a large watch battery on a sensor that is below the fog light switch. Hold it there for a second, here a click and the cars ready to start. On the fob it says Dallas.

Anyone know where i can get a replacement fob and how to program it? nearly lost it the other day and i would have been stuffed without a spare!

Does it look like one of these by any chance?

If so, have you found any way of duplicating it?

I have one of these on my 5, and I'm struggling to find a replacement... (mine is all broken, and I'm bound to loose it soon!)

So far I have been told they have an individual 64 bit key, possibly set at manufacture and non programmable, which I guess means they can't be duplicated?

Hi, yeap looks just like that one.

Had a hunt a while ago into finding a replacement and didnt have much luck.

Think theres some guy on MX5OC who knows how to do it that i found after some googling but im not a member and you have to pay to sign up so havnt been in contact with him.

Im pretty sure that if i get another fob with some detailed investigation ill find out how to then code the fob to the car as ive read online it can be done but not how it is done!

I have given up for a while as ive been uber busy and have resorted to supergluing it to the fob and hoping i dont lose my keys!

If you find anything out then tell me and visa versa!

Cheers

I've figured out how to get a new fob, and it's worryingly simple! I will email the details over...

My immobilser has suddenly stopped working including the spare. Both are 10 years old. Is it just a question of buying a new fob and if so where do I get one from. I can read the details on the spare which read DALLAS 9D 0.1 000000436541
