Not too far from you wink
Thought it was my old car for a minute but mine was a 63 and had factory side pipes.

In Portsmouth so not to far ,it's been for sale for over a year but the seller doesn't seem to be bothered,

There's another white roadster for sale in Bournemouth for about the same amount of time and a red roadster listed

a couple of weeks ago at £47,500 but not keen on red,

Sales blurb is dribbly

It wasn’t built in Bowling Green
It hasn’t got all its original panels
“Matching numbers” is a bit of a stretch as the only thing original about the engine is the block casting.
Its really a shame that it isn't in the original colour - Ontario Orange. This is a fantastic metallic orange which would have blended well with the saddle coloured interior. Perhaps white was considered the easy option.....an Ontario Orange paintjob needs a skilled painter to get the best out of it.
Indeed, its a fab colour, and why on earth anyone would repaint a car from Ontario Orange to white is a complete mystery to me... nono

Ontario Orange was actually the most popular colour choice for the '72 Corvette.

It might have a 400 motor in it (originally a 326 car if the bonnet badges are correct), but I wouldn't swap mine for that, and I know I paid too much at £25k.

You have a fantastic imagination ,need to with that background ,it looks as far away from California as possible what

with the dirty old graval yard and muddy puddles, does nothing to enhance the car.

The sellers not even bothered to wash the dirt off the Firebird let alone find a more exciting backdrop ,

Don't know if it's laziness or the seller hasen't got a clue.

Got to try a lot harder to extract thirty big ones for a none genuine 400.rolleyes

So true on all counts, absolutely typical of the chancer selling a turd mentally,

The amount of utter dogs on offer is staggering,
Shiny paint means nowt!

By the current level my old RT is worth 50k
You would need sectioning to even for considering it
If I had any money, which I don’t , but if I did there about 5 cars in the whole country worth travelling to view,

Like GTX said we used these when they were fairly new so they actually drives pretty well,
Most of the Sh— on eBay and such will drive like Trabant
And above 60 mph you will be over taken by an old lady in a Nissan Leaf!!
This is reality not some California dream, lol

Its interesting that this car - and the other green C3 are both being sold in Essex......the one from earlier this by St Andrews Autos (just a few miles away from me 'out in the sticks') - he buys a fair number of rods, yanks and other classics and generally prices them quite high.......but he is a dealer with a good reputation.........the other one just mentioned is at Leigh on Sea, again not a million miles away......I love the green interior, unusual to see that.
The common link with both of these Vettes (and perhaps others for sale recently) is that they appear to be unknown to us in the 1000 member CCCUK.
We have in exess of 70 members in the Essex region, theres another breakaway group in SE Essex with 30 members (some belong to both groups).........the point I am getting to is that not all people want to belong to a club admittedly but with so many of these cars coming up for sale that are unknown to us it just makes me think that there are still many people who perhaps don't know what they are really still doing still trying to make a buck or two importing from the 'States......pehaps dubious cars at elevated prices?

Even as someone who's still learning about yank stuff I'd go along with that, and it's worth adding that the pool of potential buyers must be quite small compared with other non yank classics for sale in the UK. On top of that, PH isn't really representative of every enthusiast in the country and our little corner of it is even smaller and quite niche, so the knowledge 'out there' probably isn't necessarily that vast.

I hope that makes sense!

Like rat rod, I still look at the asking prices and automatically compare them with non yank stuff, I'll look at a given price and think ''how many Mk1 Mini Coopers does that equate too?'', I know it's comparing apples with oranges but I'm a bit stuck in that mind set. Perhaps I should try and shake it off wink

This '74 C3 ,vert is at Shiltech where my Maser is currently residing, I'm going up there next week so will have a gander at it while I'm there, might as well...

The poorly worded adverts to me say its chancer seller's that really don't know anything about the cars they are trying to sell, other than hopefully snagging a buyer who has the money, and really doesn't know what they are buying.
I suppose that's been the used car salesman modus operandi for the past 60 years or more though biglaugh

When was the last time you dealt with a car dealer that knew that much about the cars they were selling though? You can level that comment at 99% of car dealers, from main agents, to car supermarkets, to classic car dealers. The vast majority have the same motivation and priorities as nearly everyone in business - profit.

The '74 Vette is interesting with that mileage. First year for energy absorbing rear (split bumper - all later years were one piece) second year for the energy absorbing front bumper and last year of big block (ok this is a small block) - nice that it has a hardtop with it. The OEM front and rear bumpers have a reputation of not standing up to age (and probably climatic conditions) too well. The surface sinks and ends up looking lumpy. Most people replace them with aftermarket glass fibre replacements which hold their shape well.......although will not 'bounce-off' low speed impacts.......tbh even with the OEM bumpers the paint will crack.......and they do need a suitable paint, given their flexibility. The ones on this car could be original given that there are some marks......the car is bang-on the low compression emission years but eminently tubeable........I'd be tempted if everything else was comensurate with the mileage......
