It’s almost certainly got a 338 as Chrysler would not supply a 440 if air con was specced ,
And in our world now it’s completely irrelevant whether the cars got leccy windows and door solenoids !

And while we are back to muscle what about this animal,
Wicked looking car with the baddest motor,
Was that engine ever offered as an OEM option in a Mercury Cyclone (or Ford Torino) ?
No it wasn't, its a made up car.

No Boss 429 was ever fitted into a production Mercury (or production Torino)

Ford did fit a Boss 429 into one of the three prototype King Cobra Torino's though, which was their attempt at a Daytona/Superbird type aero's car, but they never went ahead with it as a production car. This prototype Boss 429 King Cobra Torino still exists.

This is that King Cobra Torino

Didn’t sell but still made good money I’d have thought?
Fully optioned or not I wouldn’t pay that much for a 338,
That’s 6 pac territory, but as ever each to there own

It probably will end up changing hands at around 50k
Which is still 16k more that my RT returned me,
Silly prices aside I still firmly believe 35k is still the upper limit for most of theses cars in the current economic conditions, were the buyers are fairly normal people,
So when prices exceed this by a good margin the buyer pool must be very small now for old school muscle cars,

XKE’s Healys etc are all in the same class , personally I don’t give a Sh— as I don’t ever have one for investment purposes!
If I get my money back after factoring in all the owner costs I’d consider this to be a result!
The bidding went up in £1,000 segments looking like it had been run up in the hope someone will step in with a bid

nearer the reserve, might be wrong but it happens all the time,

Third time on C&C auction plus unsold at Iconic's at £46K , It did sell for £64K+ on C&C auction obviously with no payment for what ever reason,

Really lovely car just wish it was a little less money .

I believe the 'word' you are searching for Jon is FUGLY.......there was a blue Ford TorinoTallegdaga equivalent with the 429CJ engine for years......really plain bench seat interior, auto (I think) with column change - took years to sell. They are supposedly very aerodynamic (or were for the 'day')

What do you think it’s worth?
As with em all, got to see it in the flesh, almost certainly why it never happened at 64k,
It’s a 44k car really, if it was a White 70’ with a 440 and and pistol grip 4 speed then I would make big numbers

As always if one can just Bob along and time isn’t important someone at sometime will buy it, at an inflated price, priced at easy money it would be long gone !

It’s the same for all these so called iconic cars,
But the difference is this particular Challenger is a pretender just like my one was, yes it’s an RT,
That means nowt, just a sticker package really,
The serious stuff is 440’s Six packs, 4speeds
Hemi’s and Shakers ,

Just banging on a set of steels and dog dishes don’t make it a muscle car !!!

This equally applies to all manufacturers
It’s the fundamentals that counts, and when we’re talking about a cars worth is all the above,

Birdy’s RT looks a nice car, maybe it’s maybe it ain’t

Currently advertised at 57k
Got bid to 54, you’d have thought it would have sold if theses buyers were dead serious??

I think the buyers have got bored with it, they like something fresh on the market.

Unusual for Budgie ,he normally hangs on with his stock knowing that there's always

someone out there even if you sometimes have to wait a little longer for some .

Maybe a attempt to get it gone before Christmas along with this labour government

running a muck , Biden trying to start world war 3 before Trump gets into the White House

that's if he lives long enough to move in ,not to mention the middle east problems all could

get very pear shape in the next few weeks and mouths,

Hey Ho !! think i shall make myself a nice cup of tea and watch a Leslie Phillips movie and all will be ok with the world yes

Haha nah your alright
I’ve been laying on my back cleaning the inside of the TA’s roof,
What a rubbish job, my body is just about keeping up !
But finding it hard going at this time
And working upside down makes it harder .
First time I’ve done anything for over 3 weeks
So trying to get the momentum going again

Well ran out of steam and daylight!
Saw my Doctor on Thursday, I’m still waiting for my scan but she told me this is just to confirm what they already know,
I now have Popeye arm, and that’s it, it will improve but it won’t ever be spot on, permanent damage
Bugger , and ironically since I did this I’ve been using my left hand for loads and now torn something on my left side spare ribs,
Marvellous and as with my bicep it will get better so basically just carry on.
So I should be able to get the tranny done but it’s definitely going to take me longer than expected,

Anyway got 3/4 ‘s of the inner root cleaned
It’s got some local pitting but nothing to worry about,
And it’s perfect in all the important places,
Glass Apertures and seat belt mounts,

Now that job doesn't look easy even for a young man,

Worse than painting a ceiling having to put so much pressure

while rubbing down while being upside down,

You must have more stamina than all of us put together.

Haha I doubt very much!
But yes it’s not a fun job.
But only got a couple more hours graft then smash some sealer over it and that’s another job done.
But kinda relieved that my lay off seems to be almost over

Currently putting together a list of things for the next phase , suspension is next up, so shocks , full poly bushes throughout, all new ball joint and steering joints ,
I’ll get these sent directly to me this time,
Then save some more cash for the following phase,

I’m hoping to get the front subframe done over the Christmas break, and possibly both rear springs,
I did originally intend to buy new ones but the car sat very squarely on its old ones I’m going to try and reuse them,

I didn't realise the 7.3 crate truck motor was being used in Mustangs and the like as a seeming replacement for the long gone 385 series 429/460 lump.
Chevys owners are well catered for by GM's own crate engine divison and aftermarket.

Ford Performance still sell a 572ci big block which I believe is an updated version of the 429/460 motors?

I’d love to be able to afford something like these monsters
Happily put a huge BB Chevy in the TA,
Over here it would mainly be for bragging rights but now and again I could scare myself!
Alas it’s just a dream , hehe

My done pile is growing!
It’s comforting to know that even when times are a tad dodgy one can still do some little but equally important parts,

This is the stuff that people have generally no idea how time consuming, fiddly, and problematic a full restoration actually is,
To me this is what it’s all about, the car is the sum of all its parts not just the shiny ones!

New driving regulation in South Australia province for drivers of 'Ultra High Powered Vehicles'

Lamborghini driver first to be fined by police for no high-power licence
Despite widespread media coverage, one man has allegedly failed to obtain his U-class licence before driving his ultra high-performance Lamborghini in South Australia – resulting in a fine from police.

A Lamborghini driver is the first person to be fined under new 'ultra high-powered vehicle' laws, just hours after being introduced by the South Australian Government.
According to South Australia Police, a 36-year-old man was found driving a Lamborghini – believed to be a Huracan STO – at 7:30am on Sunday 1 December in Hillcrest, approximately 10 kilometres north-east of Adelaide, and allegedly without the correct licence endorsement.
Announced in mid-2023, South Australian motorists are required to obtain a U-class licence in order to drive ultra high-powered vehicles (UHPV), defined as having at least 276kW per tonne (1000kg) – with the new rules coming into effect on 1 December 2024.
Wonder if that is applied in retropect to older classic vehicles (that won't have 'nanny' systems)
