Chaps, I'm after a bit of help. One of the watches I want to replace is my much-loved Casio Duro Marlin in Blue. Where's the best place to buy from?
I'm on the Continent so need to be careful about taxes. So far all I can find are US sellers that don't ship to Lux, or Israeli sellers that I'm sure are charging twice what I paid before (maybe that's the going rate these days) but can anyone point me to a reputable European seller please?
I'd say Barchettaman could help, but i've also emailed you.I'm on the Continent so need to be careful about taxes. He's based in the state's but I've never been hit with any fees when they land.

All of my Duros have come from greatwatches.co.uk

Thanks for that. I've placed an order and will let you know how it goes. He's based in the state's but I've never been hit with any fees when they land.
ETA - I anticipate having to pay duty but it will still be the cheapest I've seen by some margin.

Had this set of Bambinos come in the other day. I can see why they get so much praise.
Incredible watches for the money.
Ultimately I sold mine as I’m not really a dress-watch kind of guy, but that was no fault of the watch.
Anyone in the market for that style (dressy, leather, well-finished) should give it a close look. I used to call it my Poundland Calatrava.

If you buy pre-owned you’ll get back what you paid, should you, like me, come to sell it on, if you have a bit of luck.
In other budget horological news, that €55 Hanowa automatic is getting a new strap courtesy of our friends in China. €5 shipped and one of these is on the way:

I like it a LOT on leather but brown isn’t really the colour:

Still running like an absolute champ and didn’t look out of place yesterday in Vienna. You might feel there’s a bit of a contradiction as it also looks dressy but it‘s more of a stainless steel sports, ahem, ‘piece’, and the crystal sits pretty flush so I’m less worried about dinging it.

I do hope there was a thorough tasting session before those were purchased. Infact given the retail on those, I strongly suspect there was!Looks like we have similar taste, I love a good Islay. My favourite is Lagavulin Distillers ed., but I can be persuaded by pretty much anything from their distillery.

I really wish I could enjoy whiskey. It’s on list that includes coffee and cheese of stuff that seems to be great to get into, but no matter how many times I try it just isn’t happening.Regardless of my lack of taste, looks like some proper stuff there!
But it does leave me with some pennies for car and watches first of which has changed this week the other hopefully will have the collection added to depending on a conversation this afternoon…

That strap is just what I'm looking for being infinitely variable as I always seem to be in between holes on a conventional strap.

It’s a deployant clasp that uses holes, it’s not an infinitely variable one. Have you a link please or a description?
What you want is a nice mesh Milanese strap. Lots of fans of those round here.
Having said that, when it arrives I’ll post a photo. It was from AliExpress. It was from HENGRC official store.
Saturday night, in front of the TV with the family watching 80s John Hughes movies, and with a bottle of Bordeaux rapidly diminishing I have just spotted this ad on the back of the Saturday supplement...

A few thoughts..
1. What a clumsy looking watch.
2. Probably costs north of £10k (can't be bothered to check, it's so fussy)
3. The blurb, whilst trying hard to convey some sort of prestige pitch, includes a split infinitive which offends me.
However, the ad (or perhaps the wine) has triggered the purchase of another sub-£200 watch...
I'll probably read this post in the morning and delete / cancel watch purchase. Time will tell...

Strangely I really like that, however I certainly wouldn't pay north of £10k for one.

It raises a couple of questions, firstly, just how much is too much?
Personally I would never spend more than a few thousand on a watch, even if I was rich enough to not consider the cost.
Secondly, what actually makes a watch worth that amount of money? Is it made of unobtainium? Diamond encrusted? Was it made by fairies?
Most watches use the same materials and have very similar workings, so is just a brand name tax?
