I bought the book last week in Zermatt. Just had a look at it the first time and stumbled across this thread laugh

But i paid CHF60 (over £50) for it in the local book store… frown

The author is my wife’s cousins Husband. Great book and a great guy. His Instagram is all meat, drink, watches and cars. Wmbrownproject
He seems like a good lad too. Have chatted with him on a few things via Instagram (recommendations either way) and he is very gracious and likes all the stuff we generally are into!

Cool, mine is a 1400, I'll see if I can just buy the foam insert.

I got the watch book a few years ago from Costco, had a good read of it and enjoyed it.

I got dragged to Harrods a few months later and while waiting for sister/mum to come from the toilets I found myself in the books section and the car one was there waiting to be opened, so I did, and yeh its full of America. Didn't want to buy it.

Rimowa do a watch case, brace yourself though…..

Christ almighty! You weren't kidding when you said brace yourself! Holy moly!

Coincidently I have been looking for a new cabin suitcase too, but £1,790 for a 3-watch case probably says I cannot justify £6,000 on a suitcase!

Wow! I just cannot see any justification for those prices!

Thanks for the Peli recommendation Paralla and Mezzanine, they look really good value for money! I think something like the 40 watch case would be ideal for keeping them all in one place and then just move them from there to the watch box when I rotate them.

Fantastic, thank you both, really great!

We have a full set of Rimowa luggage. It was birthday presents for each other for a couple of years. Totally OTT but they do make an impression at airports and arriving at hotels.

Hopefully it will be the last luggage we ever need to buy (just like I thought my twenty year old faithful hard Samsonite suitcase was)

They look absolutely beautiful as luggage goes. I do travel quite a lot and I did look at a Montblanc suitcase recently, perhaps if one of these will see out my days then I guess it's an investment by man-maths approach.

Yeah, they look great! So buying a Peli case for the watches instead of one made by Rimowa, that's saved me around £1,400, hmmmmm.

Yep. Man maths calculated, justification definitely for a Rimowa cabin case at least!

Cheers for bringing my attention to these! (Wife is going to kill me)

Ha! Sorry!

I've had the car book in the Amazon basket for a week or so now, but from what I have heard and read it's heavily 'Merica focussed and apparently has a few mistakes in it, which has made me wonder if I will be a bit disappointed with it. If the Watch book was anything to go by, I hope it wouldn't, you'll both have to let me know how it is!

In other news, and with the continuing watch book thread/theme, I bought - Chasing Time: Vintage Wristwatches for the Discerning Collector also from Amazon, and whilst it has some stunning watches in, the writing leaves quite a lot to be desired. I have read a bit of it, but found that rather than reading it, I've just been flicking through and for anything that jumps out at me that I'm not familiar with (which is quite a lot) I go off down the google rabbit hole of research!

The car book does not have the same magic about it as the watch one.

It was a good idea but the execution of it wasn’t quite right in my opinion.

I do have to agree, can't exactly explain what's missing compared to the watch book.
