If it's for showing off, wanting a bit of bling, and rubbing in the face of colleagues to make sure they know you have more money than them... then there are many watches that are nicer the Deepsea, and also a lot more wearable. As others have said, it's a really big lump of a watch, and unless you are the size of a grizzly bear, you will certainly feel that heft on your wrist, struggle to put it under shirt cuffs, and so on.

I do like the Deepsea, so much so that I went and tried one on, only to feel a bit silly. It was huge.

I would be buying a GMT or Sub and enjoying wearing it daily/regularly as intended. It will be far more practical and wearable, better looking (IMO), and anyone who knows watches will see it as far more bling/flash/expensive than a Deepsea.
My uniform shirts are all short sleeve and I only wear polo shirts at home.

Don't want to wear the watch daily as my home life is running a farm. The faint silliness of the Deepsea is the appeal.

Omega is nice but I'd always be thinking it's like sitting in a boxster at the lights with a 911 next to you. The boxster is likely better for less but you know,.
True and Rolex is definitely the 911 of the watch world.

Hadn't seen the Omega before, thought that might be worth a look for me instead of the Deep Sea, I expected it to be cheaper than the Rolex but it's very similar money. eek

Buy what you like and ignore everyone else - you are the one wearing it and there is no need to pander to others' opinions or snobbery.

I have a deepsea and I really like it. its a chunk of a watch but its not ridiculous. I have 8" wrists which helps im sure. I tend to wear it casually at weekends rather than with a long sleeve shirt at work. It also looks good on a rubberB bracelet. Somethign not mentioned is that the bracelet is the best one across the rolex range with its micro adjuster. if youve tried a tudor pelagos its similar. You can get the fit perfect, unlike a GMT for example.

The only downside is that given its a short sleeve/casual wear, its very obvious on the wrist; and id worry about attracting the 'wrong' attention in a city etc.

Dont see the interest in the Omega, its too busy for my liking and the proportions, especially the dial/hands dont work.

It wouldn't be an everyday watch, more of a bling thing. Residual values OK?
Honeywell said:
If it wouldn't lose much value I could justify it if for no other reason then to get the Rolex itch scratched for a while then sell it on

As I said, this is a bling thing... I might wear it to work sometimes in a childish top trumps exercise in outgunning my young co-pilots with their large Brietlings and what not.

LOL, Rolex people eh... hehe

Meh, if it was me I'd just go full Ploprof.

If all you care about is having an absolutely fking massive slab of metal on your wrist, then why not go the whole hog and buy the 50mm Rolex Deepsea Challenge?

The DeepSea Challenge is a watch that I’m really happy exists!

Technically, it is an excellent piece of engineering.

As a wristwatch, my god it's a huge chunk of ugly!

I have a cheap copy of the ProPlof in the black/orange variant - it wears weirdly small for what is a slab of metal!

I would definitely buy one if I was a PBPHD biggrin and that blue one is lovely.

The thing that puts me off Rolex is everywhere you look there is a tiktokker, instagrammer, youtuber or tattooed meathead wearing a Rolex of some sort. That and all the raffle competitions to win a Rolex.
Don't get me wrong, I do like the watches, just not the brand image.
If I could walk into an AD and buy a Skydweller I would, as for the Deepsea, I think it's a great watch, but for me the Omega Ultra Deep is the better watch in looks and quality.

Perhaps that's why I choose to wear a 1993 battered old Explorer II. It whiffs of old money rofl

I worked with a guy many years ago who bought a Deepsea when they first came out. He must have been 6'08" 23 stone -powerlifter type build. It was even too big on the wrist for him! It kept catching on things given the depth of profile.

The only watch I've ever contacted the jewellers whom I sold it to to say if it ever came back in stock I'd buy back immediately.

I had the updated 126660 and the new bracelet made a world of difference. I'm 5'9" and under 13 stone by the way so not some steroidal scaffolder! The ORIGINAL GAS ESCAPE text is weirdly not as in your face as it always appears in photos and the dial is just gorgeous.

People always say "top heavy" this, "too thick" that but it's a perfectly wearable sports watch. I love them, I will get another if the market ever crashes (think I paid about £9000 when new and it seemed a lot even back then).

Whilst I like watches, there are only a small number of watches that I like enough to actually want to own, and the JC DeepSea is at the top of that very short list

I'm not a powerfully built company director but I never really felt my JC deep-sea was too big, I only moved it on as I just wanted something else, it's a lovely watch.

For size, this is pretty big at 45.5mm.

I like the Deep Sea but prefer the look of the Omega Planet Ocean

Far too big for me but what a gorgeous watch.

That new PO Worldtimer is 2cm thick, it's like a hockey puck!

Agree with a few others , I find the JC Deepsea absolutely comfortable and not top heavy . I have 12 series one, so can’t comment . The dial is stunning . Also have a smaller watch and enjoy switching between .
I note Tiger Woods has worn a JC for many many years, he is athletic and not a large frame and it never looks big on him. Maybe t
