We went to Paris house a few years ago for lunch. Very impressed with the food and a lovely quirky setting.

I think it’s lost it’s Michelin star for some reason.
The owner died .
No way... st, I didnt realise. :-(
I suppose it depends on exactly how long ago you went . Peter chandler was the owner who died in 2009 and has 2 owners since

It was after 2009. Maybe 2016/17

Thinking about it I dont think it had a star when we went but it was in the Michelin Guide. Very good either way

A new one for the area. I'd like to recommend our recently re-opened local, the Three Tuns in Guilden Morden near Royston.

Bought by the local community in October 18 and re-opened in June following a massive village effort to renovate it. We have tenants, a couple, of whom one is an excellent chef. The food is superb and we have a 1/2 acre garden for the kids to run about in!

...not to be confused with the pub with the same name just down the road!

Just had a superb meal at the Mash Inn near Radnage,

Excellently conceived menu, beautifully cooked sensibly sized portions and great value for the set lunch .....
..... alcohol however was rather expensive !

We've got a Tabure in Berkhamsted.

The food is pretty good. What lets it down is that they serve it tapas-style, so dishes arrive as they're ready and given the menu, that doesn't really work - you end up finishing with something that should be an accompaniment to another dish.

Plus the service at ours is pretty dreadful.

I really want it to get better. I'll try it again soon to see if it has.
Just to update this (because I'd forgotten I'd written it), they changed the way they served slightly a short time after they opened. They still bring stuff as it's ready, but they seem to work out that you don't want to end on something random on its own.

So, definitely recommended these days.

As mentioned on another thread, we visited Crockers in Tring a few weeks ago. Highly recommend it, the chefs table experience was fantastic.

I think the chef’s table is good value.

We went to their new(ish) a la carte restaurant last week, and that was decent too.

I think so. I think it’s 100 a head. Great to be able to chat to Scott and the other chefs and quiz them about techniques and other stuff. It’s a really fun and relaxed environment and the food was very tasty.

I suppose it depends what you want from your dining experience, I can see why some might not like that kind of setting. We loved it. :-)

Blimey, it's been a long, long time since this thread was used!

Visited Cawsburger in Hitchin this weekend. Superb burgers, fries and nuggets! By far the best I've had, outside of the US.

+1 for Cawsburger. Went recently, fantastic burgers, great fries, nice staff. Even some good music.

For culinary contrast, will be trying Eight in Baldock soon.

I've recently moved to Cambridgeshire (15/20 mins southeast of Cambidge centre).

Can anyone recommend any must visit restaurants in the area?
