Ferry accident at Canaries.

Ferry crashes into a pier in the Canaries due to mechanical failure. Many reported injured. It looks like it hit with quite a whack.

Unfortunately this has damaged underwater fuel pipes and has dumped 16000 gallons of diesel into the sea. Despite about half of that being recovered the remainder has produced a two mile slick that's threatening Gran Canaria. With luck the clean-up procedures will mean it will have dissipated in a few days without causing too much environmental damage.
