It would appear that the engine runs planned for tomorrow will be that last ever.

After tomorrow XH558 will cease too be a 'live' aircraft.

She has to leave her current home soon so it will be wings off, engines removed & that's it.

Done.

Dead.

Finished.

Well done VTTS. You have managed too destroy a legend.

I hope you are proud of yourselves.

It's a piece of tin that always had a finite life. Don't really get the hate to be honest

So they are to blame for not having any serviceable engines and the closing of the airport now?

Well, yes they are to blame.
They were to blame for RR withdrawing support to end its flying days, and they are to blame for insisting on their ludicrous pet project and landing it for the last time at an airport that even when it was still flying had a big question mark over it's long term viability. Had they not alienated themselves from pretty much the rest of the historic aviation community with their attitude, and been more pragmatic about the best for the airframe's survival, rather than their own salaries, then people outside of their blind fanboy club wouldn't be so critical.
I only hope that the spares and parts they no longer need will go to the other two Vulcan Groups, but I won't hold my breath given VTTS attitude.

I would say they are to blame for many misguided decisions stemming from landing her there.

Don’t get me wrong, it was great to see her flying and entertaining fans again but putting her where they did made no sense. Fast taxy runs were never going to be easy at a functioning airport…among other access restrictions.

I seem to recall lots of people saying at the time she should have gone to Bruntingthorpe......

Yep, you’re right…but at the time it had a bloody long runway that the Lightnings, Victor and others used and was not a commercial airport. Things have happened in the mean time…sadly ruined a lot.

Yes, because only someone with a PhD in English know the difference.

Only the ones that were ignoring the fact that Brunty had made it clear they didn't want it there.....so it was never an option (but didn't stop people blind to that fact keep saying it!!)

Have they? Is it to give them more time to dismantle and move?

I suspect its more likely they don't actually have anywhere to move it to.
