It will need to be restored again. It crashed a few days later.
You'd be gutted if you'd just packed up the tools https://www.aviation24.be/miscellaneous/accidents/...

Sounds like it lost an engine. You can hear the change in turbine noise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7goj1o0UajU&fe...

Appropriate squadron code and call sign too.I'm struggling to identify the particular Mark of the Spitfire in the clip, but I'm going with a three-bladed propeller and cannon in the wings, which would put it as a Mk1B at the very earliest. So some time after June 1940 if a brief scout about on Google has brought up correct information...

Bucketloads of the buggering things. I was there for this display, along with my four-year old (helicopter obsessed) son. The footage doesn't capture it well either. The AAC brought many of the helicopters in from elsewhere, and the ones from Middle Wallop sort of "sneaked away" while other things were going on, then they formed up behind over behind Danebury Hill Fort. You couldn't really hear them from that distance, so the crowd only really noticed the massed approach when the aircraft lights went on and they started moving toward the airfield. I doubt we'll ever see such a spectacle again...

I went to Music In The Air at middle wallop some years ago, they did a massed helicopter approach while the live orchestra played Ride of the Valkyries. I thought that was impressive but nowhere near as many of them as that video!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mi3awMLJTw
