Don’t normally do takeaways on a Monday but on a public holiday it’s mandatory. Fish and chips from my local place, I phoned in order but by time I got there they’d ran out of mushy peas so threw in some battered mushrooms for free. Very nice they were too.

There was a lot more, I only put about a fifth of them on my plate until I cleared some more space on it

Local butcher's faggots on a bed of black pudding (a. as a love black pud. b. so the faggots are not 'swamped')..................

My special onion gravy....................

With buttery mash and marrowfat peas with obligatory vinegar and white pepper................

Maybe I should've fried off the black pudding first?

Definitely should have fried the black pudding first but not 100% so it doesnt fall apart. Im going to get some faggots from my local butcher and try this. Havent had them or marrowfat peas for years.

I'm in the German city of Koblenz on a road trip with my daughter but unfortunately she's taken ill so I wandered out of the rented apartment in search of solitary sustenance and found a Balkan restaurant.

The waiter seems to think I look like I need a pickled prebiotic as an unexpected starter.

Main was a mixed grill, which was very good even though I'm not normally a massive meat eater.
