Wifey's birthday bash at The Priory in Caerleon. Used to be a favourite of ours but has undergone a refurb and new owners.
How much did all that cost you?
I'm going to guess £102 plus drinks, sides and a tip.
I got it to £10 more bowtie

Your word 'but' - does that mean it's not as good any more?

Do they still do a pint of prawns?

Worded badly. Was trying to imply we had no idea what it was going to be like. No pints of prawns though.

Total change in fact. They've done away with the 'choose your raw fish or meat from the counter' then they'd weigh it for price and take it to the kitchen behind to cook it the way you want it want etc. It's now all sit at your table and order from the menu. It's now all "fuelled by fire and Bodega style". Very nice bur improvement? Not so sure to be honest. I'm guessing it's part of a chain of restaurants?

Looks to be same owners, they also own Custom House in Penarth and several others across S Wales all in a similar mold (to what Priory used to be like).

Went to blacklock in Manchester and consumed this pile (between two). Was a bit like a cheaper Hawksmoor.

Local Turkish Restaurant - lamb ribs with some fantastic rice.

Wife had Chicken Kebab with a yoghurt dressing.

All lovely.
Oof… would smash!
The plating looks simple, but often that's best.

Chris, that's very forward of you to talk about Mrs Bohdi like that.....

I'm a fairly simple guy when it comes to all things culinary - just give me some well seasoned and grilled meat with a couple of sundries and I am more than happy - why I love food from that part of the Mediterranean. We've got a trip to Cyprus booked in June, am very much looking forward to some souvlaki and dinosaur chops smile

First attempt at Hasselback potatoes, with a half leg of lamb. Cocked up the timing so had to cut the lamb to speed up the cooking getmecoat

Yes it was a lot of money for a burger, and yes we ordered far too many fries.

But good lord it was enjoyable. I can feel the artery fur building already.

Supermarket steak, sweet potato mash with spring onion and asparagus… asparagus now in season and absolutely gorgeous… roast in the oven for 10-12 mins with a bit of oil and salt.
