We bake ours Tony. Takes about 30mins, and it imparts a nice roast flavour. Turmeric, salts and sometimes cashews.
Sounds like an idea, oil/medium high oven?

Yep drizzle of oil, sorry I forgot about that. 200ish. Give it a little mix half way. Works great with katsu curry.

When I do cauliflower rice I blitz the cauli in a processor then mix it in a big bowl with a drizzle of oil and large pinches of ground cumin, ground coriander and a dash of chilli powder, spread it on a lined baking tray and grill it for about 12 minutes, mixing it up half way, until it's just starting to brown.

Sure. Here you go. I actually prefer this to the takeaway versions.

Ladies and gentlemen.... I give you the Pork Cupcake.

The thing is huge. I’m a big eater but my “slice” was about a quarter of it. Tasted fantastic. House smells good to.

Somebody noticed the photobombing bottle wink It was magnificent. Out of my price league and comfortably the best claret I've had (previous best being Smith Haut Lafitte, Kirwan, Chasse Spleen).

A gift from someone I helped out in around 1998. Kept it for a suitable occasion (retirement)

The deer was shot by a mate so I only had to pay for the spuds!

What actually is it? I had a pork cupcake in a restaurant in the US about ten years which was basically a kind of soufflé thing with pulled pork in it

It was a well taken photo just to sneak it in there! wink

I've been lucky enough to grow up with a family that appreciates a nice Bordeaux, unfortunately though its rubbed off and now its expensive to actually enjoy a bottle! Uni was difficult being a wine snob spin

So nice that it was a gift that you have banked for a few years!

Happy retirement! Certainly a great way to start it.

I've started my cellar at BBR to try and make the drinking more reasonable in years to come.

BBR GOC and EOC are bloody marvellous - no need to wait

I laid down a few cases of decent claret and rhône in the '90s (pre children) but sadly all gone. I wish I'd bought triple the amount I did. I could have drunk for free and made a few bob on what I didn't drink.

A '72 911s, a DB6 or a 246GT was about £30k in those days.

Hey Ho

Hey Ho
We are buying circa £2.5k a year of plonk hoping to have some very reasonable plonk to drink in 10+ years time. (Pre children currently)

I think the GOC and EOC has deteriorated in recent years...about 3-5 years ago it was excellent but more recently I would rather be drinking 'top end' supermarket plonk for similar money,

With grateful guidance from HM-2 and craigjm, as well as a recipe from BBC Goodfood, I took elements from all three and had a try at beef rendang tonight.
I cooked the beef in sauce for about two and a half hours and it was lovely and tender and very flavoursome.
I served it with turmeric rice, with mustard seeds, and topped it with crispy fried onion, toasted sesame seeds and chopped spring onion.

It was delicious and I will definitely make it again.
Apologies for my one and only photo which came out blurry, although that's pretty much how I saw it after a few saturday night beers! biggrin

Well done. Looks decent. You will just keep refining it to your taste now. Next time try serving it with Roti Canai and pineapple pickle instead. Here are some easy recipes to get you started -

Roti Canai - https://www.elmundoeats.com/en/homemade-roti-canai...

Pineapple pickle - https://www.spicebox.co.uk/recipes/instant-pineapp... (but leave it overnight not 30 mins)
