Mince pies, my rolling thread of which is best
Discussion
I've had a number so far this year.
The standard puff pastry offering from Tesco are always a favourite. Good mince to pie ratio. 7/10.
Greggs shortcrust thing. Not great. Not enough filling. 3/10.
However, the pinnacle so far this year, Morrisons Deep Filled Pies. Incredible. Full of juicy fruit and a golden ratio of pastry to filling. Don't think it can get better than these for me, but 9/10 just incase....

Having baked any yet, but have a large kilner jar of homemade mincemeat ready to go. Looking forward to it as it has a nice bit of venison and wild cherry brandy.

Quick opening survey:
Tesco boggo - not nice
Waitrose boggo - not nice
Sainsbo boggo - acceptable
Asda boggo - good
Waitrose all butter - better
Greggs - top o the pile
Bought a box of the Waitrose all butter on the back of this. Very disappointing. Not much fruity taste and far too sweet. ( I ate them anyway )Tesco boggo - not nice

The things I do for PH research purposes
Will try the luxury one as part of lunch - seem to remember the Aldi apple ones were most people raved about last year.
A lot of 'mince pies' in name only there. I hate all those mince pies trying to add something. It should be pastry, mince meat and alcohol. Sugar on top, if you must. Will try the luxury one as part of lunch - seem to remember the Aldi apple ones were most people raved about last year.
Absolutely the best mince pies you can buy are from COOK. No debate. Sorry, but that's obviously the end of the thread.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll check these out. This, however, is troubling: https://www.cookfood.net/products/mince-pies?srslt...
