Costco do packs of their own which are whole lot better than supermarket jars for an American dog

OP, in addition to previously mentioned, this week is Alpenfest week at LIDL, so there'll be some unique sausages until thursday when it's bavarian week. Just had a look and there's about 9 types of sausage just for the week.

The Nürnberger Bratwurst are worth a try.

Tasty little sausages ideal for BBQs since they're already cooked and just need crisping up.

Great in a baguette with fried onions and mustard.

Came here expecting to see Costco mentioned in the first few replies!!

They are rather tasty. To be perfectly honest though the best dogs in town are often found in the local butchers.

They have a line of cheese running lengthways through the dog. It turns almost liquid when warmed up and they are very moreish.
Tastes like normal hotdog with cheese added.
Only downside is if you warm then for too long some cheese will try and escape.
Indeed they do...imagine being served these without being told there is cheese in them, biting in to it and finding yellow stuff oozing out of what is cheap meat.

Once I found out what it was , I carried on eating.

These are great. The love child of a frankfurter and a sausage. I don't look anywhere else smile.

I tried your recommendation last night.

They tasted like I imagine a recently dead man’s cock would.

I'm a big fan of these, though they're only slight 'warm' rather than spicy - but a grand sosig all the same.

The maple bacon ones are good too, albeit a bit too sweet for me.
These are good but they are not hot dogs as in frankfurters, more a traditional sausage with spicing.

I have observed, but never bought, hot dogs in jars sold by Aldi in Portugal.

How should one prepare these for a bread roll, please?

And will unused ones keep in the fridge?

Isn’t a decent hotdog an oxymoron? I thought they were supposed to be ahole and chickens lips.

When on the continent, usually dunk them cold into a jar of amora mustard, accompanying a beer

Pork, surely?

Best ones are from the burger vans, near city markets.

They satisfy OPs criteria and say hot dog on the packet. smile

Given he was looking for 'texture' I didn't think we were sticking exclusively to franks as they're pretty much all the same kind of salty mush.

The best ones I've ever had have all been beef hotdogs. I think beef hotdogs is an American thing and the pork based came from the German frankfurter

The hotdogs from Sonic in the US are beef.

We really need a Sonic in the UK. And a Rudy's (brisket).

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy them.

Do you think they might have been too posh for you?

I find most of the supermarket sausages to be all the same, being quite bland and unpleasant, but the other day I bought a pack of Harrogate sausages from the supermarket and they were very good.
