Don't mind me- Zoo time is she and you time
The mammals are your favourite type, and you want her tonight
Heartbeat, increasing heartbeat
You hear the thunder of stampeding rhinos, elephants and tacky tigers

Without googling.....anyone know this one ?

Third line gives it away for me - very good!

That’s Entertainment as posted earlier is one of those songs that, once I start listening to it, feel compelled to listen through to the end. And following that, have some more...

Sup up your beer and collect your fags
There's a row going on down near Slough
Get out your mat and pray to the West
I'll get out mine and pray for myself.

That one strikes a Spark.

How about:
The time I think most clearly, the time I drift away
Is on the bus-ride that meanders up these valleys of green and grey
I get to think about what might have been and what may yet come true
And I get to pass a rainy mile thinking of you.

Always gives me a bit of a tingle, that one.

Great track !
- such early energy of The Jam. Used to pogo around the youth club to that one - and Dexys.....trilby, two-tone pants and loafers.

How about this great performance of the aforementioned 'this town.....' some 43 years later !
I kid you not !

Do you realize that you have the most beautiful face
Do you realize we're floating in space,
Do you realize that happiness makes you cry
Do you realize that everyone you know someday will die…

I'll bet they had as good a time as the crowd !
I'd completely forgotten about them TBH until I bought a CD Compilation album earlier today which is 99% 80's synth electronica - and oddly, THAT song ! So I showed the original music video (apparently the first music video ever produced) to my teenage son who thought the lyrics were completely bonkers.....

A long time ago came a man on a track
Walking thirty miles with a sack on his back
And he put down his load where he thought it was the best
Made a home in the wilderness

Knopfler making that axe sing.....a tinkling piano.....and a proper rocking outro !

A constant in my 'top ten tunes to test your hi fi' list......all 14 minutes of it !

Just a perfect day
Drink Sangria in the park
And then later
When it gets dark, we go home

As someone who bought the pre-recorded cassette of Kimono My House when it came out I still didn't recognise the lyrics.
Shame on me.
Also available on 8 track.

There's nothing in the streets looks any different to me,
And the slogans are replaced bye the bye,
The parting on the left is now the parting on the right,
And the beards have all grown longer overnight...

Another good poem... I love this song.

It was November 4th I last held your hand,
It seemed that time would last forever.
I thought you'd never leave, you said you'd never go,
I wish I could just remember your name.

As you woke this morning
And opened up your eyes
Did you notice the tear-stains lining your face
were mine?

What would you do if you knew
Today's your last good day?
If you knew 'the best is yet to come'
Just is no longer true?

I have fallen for another she can make her own way home
And even if she asked me now I’d let her go alone
I useta see her up the chapel when she went to Sunday mass
When she’d go up to receive, I’d kneel down there and watch her pass - The glory of her ass!

Forgotten Sons biggrin

I still have my Market Square Heroes 12” and Script For A Jester’s Tear on vinyl thumbup
They wrote some brilliant lyrics, is areal pit the only song remembered now is the truly awful Kayleigh.

Should be something decent, like Assassin or Garden Party...
Or:-

So here I am once more
In the playground of the broken hearts
One more experience, one more entry
In a diary self-penned

Or:-

Hotel hobbies padding dawn's hollow corridors
Bellboys checking out the hookers in the bar
Slug-like fingers trace the star-spangled clouds of cocaine on the mirror
The short straw takes it's bow

Wouldn't it be nice to get on with me neighbours,
But they make it very clear they've got no room for ravers,
They stop me from groovin' they bang on me wall,
It's doin' me crust in it's no good at all...

And hit me with a hand of broken nails
You tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin to boil
