very very excited having been following them for about, oh, 30 years
have seen them a couple of times recently and still brilliant. Should be amazing at the RAH

at the Jazz Cafe seeing Patrice Rushen instead; would have preferred U'world but never seen her and was booked first
Nice. Saw Art Of Noise at the Jazz Cafe about a month ago....also amazing

How was it? I was a huge Mozzer fan until he came out as supporting of 'For Britain'.

I note that he has been quiet on that front lately. Perhaps he realises that a lot of his audience feel completely alienated by his views.

I genuinely miss going to see him.

He kept a lid on it with a couple of comments about free speech. Good set list, but short. He was in good form vocally.

The mighty Suede in Brighton last night. Gone a bit deaf in one ear.

Going to see Papa Roach at Ally Pally on Saturday, supporting Don Broco. Can’t wait to relive my early 2000’s nu metal days. They’re still turfing out great tracks.

Years ago, you could stand on the mezzanine above the stage at the Jazz Cafe. We were doing that one night, grooving to the DJ before the JB's set. I dropped my beer which smashed & dropped through the mez onto the drum kit delaying the start by half an hour. If you enjoyed being on the mezzanine back in the day, then soz. It was me who killied it.

they reconfigured it when the new people took over too.

The artist used to walk through the restaurant to get down the stairs to the stage. Its now out behind the stage so no more opportunities for awkward high 5s with acts that probably have better things to do than be touched by the public half way through their portion of sticky chicken wings!!

I did exactly that to Tania Maria in there. I still cringe at the tought of it, poor woman, just wanted to get to the dressing room & put her feet up & there's me patting her on the back.

Blockheads last Saturday. Lead singer of dubious talent attempting to 'cover' the personality on stage of Dury himself didn't mar a night of very good music. I'd forgotten how many hits these guys had and actually did a bit of bopping.

Saw Suede on Friday at Southampton, they were outstanding and despite being excellent first time round they just keep getting better with this second stint. Don't know how Brett has preserved both his voice and fitness levels so well after all these years, he just doesn't stop running around for the entirety of the gig...well apart from the 2 acoustic tracks.

If I see a better gig this year I'll be surprised, well worth checking out and they certainly don't live off former glories.

Got Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan (all said in a John Peel voice) coming up this weekend in Brighton, should be ace.

Same goes for Shed Seven, catch them while you can. Rick is still tearing it up, and their new material is at least as good as the old hits.

It's not really a gig as such but I'm off to see Public Service Broadcasting's "Pitch Black Playback" at Riverside Studios in London.

Looking forward to it; it's the 10th anniversary of the release of their debut album "Inform Educate Entertain" and it is played through surround sound cinema-type system (in the dark, and just the music, no band!) followed by a Q & A with J. Willgoose Esq. Never seen this before and now can't wait.

Still riffing on Suede from last week. I've spent the past two days learning Richard's parts from The only way I can love you, especially the jingle jangle parts in the coda. That lad is a proper gunslinger. From 3:15 on this-

Drain @ New Cross in early August - £16.50 inc. fees. Looking forward to this one, saw them as a support last year at The Underworld; this is their first UK/EU headline tour & have recently signed to Epitaph Records.

Agree with the comments about Suede seem them in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago. Superb band.

Fairly quiet year so far with only The Wedding Present, The Boss and Cigarettes After Sex booked so far.
