Thinking of wall hanging my guitars, would this he suitable for a Les Paul?? Worried about the weight of it in the headstock?

i don't trust wall hanging...(not got much wall space left anyway mind youlaugh). so i got a fender "rifle rack" and once i'd filled that i just kept buying those free stands for about a tenner a pop...

got them dotted around the house and in work too...

Ok at the risk of completely high jacking this thread with my fantasy buying i need help please.

As i think i have previously said i have a squier affinity telecaster, a fender mexican strat, and a gibson les paul deluxe. I was interested in a les paul junior style guitar.

I have now found 2 potentials which has led me onto a third which is purely for aesthetic reasons!

The first is the Harley Benton Dc as previously mentioned. £144

The second is the Gretsch G2215 £299

And the third is the Gretsch G2210 but mainly because the gunmetal colour is awesome. £218

Given the other guitars i have and the low price point meaning i can afford to take a risk with them suiting me which one would you take?

I mainly play Pink Floyd,Knopfler,Clapton type music all to a very poor level smile

The price point had lowered from the initial of £1000 due to external factors ie the missus finding out and moaning that i should be saving money as buying a house in May!

I didn't recognise the model numbers, but the Gretsch ones look a bit different to mine: I've got various guitars; Strat, Tele, Les Paul, SG and one Gretsch. The Gretsch is the only one I can't settle with, so I'm going to sell it after the lockdown (not an advert BTW!). They definitely have a different feel to other guitars, but maybe the ones you've found are closer to a Les Paul if not only due to the shape? I find the larger body of mine a bit awkward, though it's a lovely looking guitar, I just don't want to play it: Perils of buying on line because I thought I was getting a deal beating a price rise...

I'd sell it now if I were you!

Guitars seem to be selling well at the moment, theory is that people stuck at home are taking up new hobbies or going back to old ones. There's a shortage of new instruments due to supply problems, I'm told - so I assume this is having an effect on secondhand sales.

I've sold about half a dozen guitars in the last year and not lost money on any of them.

This is the G2210

https://www.rimmersmusic.co.uk/gretsch-g2210-strea...

And the G2215 (same but with a p90)

https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/20061635932...

Both solid body thinner guitars than their “normal” line up.

Not having played any of these....but if it were me, I'd be buying the Harley Benton DC Junior in Pelham Blue. I think they look great, the reviews are good and it's a limited run, so there's an air of exclusivity (probably misplaced, but nonetheless...).

https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_dc_junior_...

Having said that, I doubt you'd go wrong with any of them so the best advice is to buy the one that you like the most, as that's most likely the one you'll play the most!

It is the Harley Benton which I am leaning towards as seems to offer the most of what I don’t have.

Thinking the faded blue though as the Gibson is Pelham Blue so want something different.

I'm not prepared to post a guitar, so I will have to wait until people can come to collect. Otherwise I'm sure you're right: I have got some pedals that are in my 'sell pile' so I might risk posting them, though I'm still a bit wary of people trying to pull a fast one and say it arrived damaged or faulty.

Most of the various online shop's secondhand pages have just about dried up lately. I've been tempted by a few items, which have then sold while I debated or did some research, so I'm sure you have a point about selling now.

Sheetmaself; Those Gretsch guitars do look much closer to a Gibson in body size, so maybe I should have looked at something more like those when I bought my G5622T. Odd thing is that I'm fine with my electro-acoustic, but I don't like the bulk of the Gretsch semi-hollowbody: Shame because I always promised myself a Gibson ES335 for my 60th birthday, but I don't think I'd be comfortable playing one of those either...

I always fancied a full hollow bodied Gretsch but luckily my dad bought a Gibson 335 DOT which I cannot stand to play so i know the hollow bodied large Gretsch’s aren’t for me.

Chaps, let me start by saying I'm not a guitarist, I'm a keyboard player so...

I'm looking at buying a special gift for a friend and am thinking about a 'Birth date' guitar - 1973. I know he's got 1st Class Fender Stratocaster he purchased in San Francisco at a custom shop near the Hendrix "Red House" while he was based over there. So, is there a vast difference between a new Strat and a 45 year old one? Would a Strat player also enjoy playing a Telecaster because an alternative would be a 1973 Tele'? Finally I suppose there's Gibson, or is that like a Harley rider thinking a Honda Goldwing is the devil's work? biggrin Thoughts???

Can I be your friend? October 1971, if it helps...

Seriously, I play Strats, Teles and Gibson guitars, and if someone bought me any quality guitar from my birth year I would be ecstatic. If he already has a special Strat, then personally I would go for something different. A Tele would be nice, or a Les Paul.

SGs from this era all seem to be pretty drab affairs, so as an alternative, how about something a bit more exclusive, like a Gretsch? Even if he doesn’t like how it plays, it will still look fantastic on his wall.

Thanks, I can see that a Les Paul would be entirely different to his Strat (and I assume others). Obviously heard of Gretch so will take a look.

Jesus - what a friend. OK, if buying abroad remember taxes have increased with Brexit. ATB are a good source of vintage guitars, or there's the reverb pot luck.

About time I posted some pics I suppose.

Ibanez AEW40 Zebrawood

Epi LP Black Beauty (In D standard), Epi Explorer (In Drop B, used to be a goth, well, still is, but it's been painted, new pickups, and a kill switch) and a Fender Modern Player Jaguar.

The tediously named ESP LTD Paramount Series X-Tone PC-1V.

There's another few lying around too, I'll post them some other time.

Lucky him. I have Gibson and Fenders and if someone bought me 73 Telecaster I would be delighted. I dont know if they made the Deluxe in 1973 but if so a Telecaster Deluxe (it has humbucker pickups rather than singlecoils on the Stratocaster) would complement his Strat very nicely.

Let us know how you get on.
