Lets look at our guitars thread

Just sold this
and bought this

2001 Les Paul Standard limited colours(Sapphire blue),then a 1988 Yamaha sg1000.Considering the Yamaha was about three hundred pounds cheaper to me,it is a way better built, more versatile guitar. The coil taps give you huge fantastic twangy Stevie Ray Vaughan sounds which you would never get out a Les Paul!Plus you get the Les Paul sounds flung in there too!A really under rated guitar the Yamaha.

One of these on order (not even released yet) David Gilmour Fender Strat Custom

And the current steed - Peavey Eddie Van Halen Wolfgang Original

Wolfgang is run though EVH's 5150 Amp, although once the Gilmour rep arrives, I'll look at something new . . . .
[Not pictured: Fender Precision Bass]

Some lovely guitars in this thread!
These are my main 2 guitars. The acoustic is a Taylor 414-L7 and plays beautifully. It has no electronics, although I am thinking of adding a pickup at some point. Currently looking at a Fishman Infinity as it is invisible from the outside. The electric is a CR8 Les Paul. The neck is like a baseball bat but it sounds fantastic, particularly through the Marshall amp (see the amp thread for a picture of that).

You're piccy's missing, but I remember seeing your lovely Les Paul.
On another note, does anyone get the ageing a new guitar thing? I know Fender's Custom Shop do it. I'd never heard of Tom Murphy before I chanced on this:

His ageing techniques add a premium to the guitar. Imagine some one offering that service to your new car. lol. I suppose it could be linked to not wanting your new denim jeans to look new, and buying new/faded.
These vid clips are interesting:

Keep those guitar pics coming peeps. I'll get some of mine up asap.

Thanks for the heads up. Trying to fix it now.
I quite like the aging thing because it means that if you play live you aren't wiping value of your guitar every night bashing it about, you're adding to it. Whether I'd actually pay more for it myself is another question, but I might be tempted to get a guitar with minor aging for the same price as a new one. I would more accurately describe it as buying a gigged 1980s guitar though, not a new one that's been attacked with some sand paper.

My Gilmour Black Strat has the 'aged' option, but I've gone for the NOS version (New Old Stock) which works out cheaper by about 300 quid.
I personally, can make a guitar look aged, simply by owning and playing the thing, on top of which, I'll be spared all the lamens comments regarding the fact that I've paid two and a half grand for a guitar that looks knackered!!

Brother Gallagher didn't give a flying fig what his Strat looked like:I personally, can make a guitar look aged, simply by owning and playing the thing, on top of which, I'll be spared all the lamens comments regarding the fact that I've paid two and a half grand for a guitar that looks knackered!!
