Nice 105. I would like one for touring/overlanding but I don’t think they were ever sold here.
Thanks. She is a minty one. Only covered 130000 kms from new, last year was a full 820 kms.2 owners, the last being the owner of a Tlarge oyota dealership and it was part of his (over 40!!) Land Cruiser collection. His retirement and the C-19 lockdown convinced him to thin the herd a little.
Has extras that probably add up to the value of the car including Winch, front & rear bars, 160 liter sub tank, draw system, spots and rear work lights, roof rack with pull out table, air compressor, twin battery system, seat covers, and on and on.
She'll be used for trips into the bush as well as family holidays into the Namib, Bots and Zambia. We have a holiday home close to the Kruger so she'll be stationed there ready to roll.
As you say, the 105 is basicaly an 80 series chassis with a party frock on but only sold in 3 or 4 markets.

Stop, I’m too jealous! I recently watched 4xOverland’s 105 rebuild on Youtube, which really got me thinking about them. Seems like the perfect mix of comfort and ruggedness in one vehicle.
I’ve managed to drive my 110 to southern Morocco twice, which is about as far as I can get in the holidays I get from work. I dream of being able explore more of Africa.

You'll notice Andrew St P-W never followed up on the mission to improve the economy......I’ve managed to drive my 110 to southern Morocco twice, which is about as far as I can get in the holidays I get from work. I dream of being able explore more of Africa.
Basically, you can't you can get more power for the same fuel but their economy is pretty pants.
I've always liked the 105 or being a better interior than the 80 but based on the same chassis with additional goodies like being triple locked, disc brakes all round (later 80's are) and some other improvements.
And being in Africa, I can attest to the fact that Toyota parts are far more available than anything other. Predominately due to the wide uptake of Toyotas in NGO's and mining use.
My alternator packed up the other day, new one bought and fitted, less than 80 quid.
The downside with the 105 petrol is the fuel consumption. But it's a low comp engine ( 9:1 ) so will run on pretty much anything. Just need to make sure the cooling system is 100%. Apparently the 1FZ-FE heads can be a weak spot if overheated.
Diesel would be the first choice but they're so much more expensive and pretty rare, there's a lot of petrol can be bought for the price differential.
Here's my submission. My absolute dream vehicle and one I look forward to using properly over and above the odd wee trek through a dry field or two!
Any suggestions for (extremely) safe off road places in Scotland.
Story with the AT35 is, purchased last year and slowly starting to mod up now. Roof basket and light bars on their way, at the moment had some exhaust work done to tidy things up underneath to match the full chassis & suspension component protection.
Cheers all
