Snorkels, 90% cosmetic?

THIS Suzuki definitely made use of it's snorkel.....
Snorkels are mostly for show, but my next Land Rover will certainly have one as it will be going off road, and it's better to have one just in case the water is a bit deeper than anticipated.....
