Incidentally I think that your initial post recognises that this is a good idea with the opening sentence:

I agree and think that the factory should be doing some legwork for prospective builders.

For a purely accountancy approach I added the cost of trailor depreciation to the cost of my build ! I was fortunate that I needed no extra tools as building for 40 years I had plenty . Someone starting out would spend a minimum of £500 . I even needed a lathe as the flywheel aperture was smaller than the crankshaft boss . A BIG LATHE .

It is a great list and I'll say why imho.

I looked at the price of the body, then found the price of the chassis - and thought it wasn't that expensive.

Then I glanced at all the medium cost items and did see the engine being a sizeable chunk (and the gearbox less than expected) - but wasn't totting up as I went and so didn't expect the final total. hehe

maybe you do not know the excel sheet that I have, will ask the factory if it is ok to link it here, this
is how I ordered my parts and of course it calclulates altogether at a click.

Parts to build a basic car, std brakes, shocks, single tank, no wing, Ultima instruments, cheapest listest recon G50, no leather dash, luggage containers, carbon cill covers, no engine totals just under £32700?

I don't think you need to be concerned.
Your spreadsheet is a statement of what you used in your build and how much you paid for it.
What others think of that is their problem. If they think you paid too much for the engine or used too many tubes of sealant then so be it.

I have published my list in the past and think it is good that anyone can see it. Mine is 5 years out of date now so no point in re-posting it.

Having someone else's sheet gives you the chance to amend it to your specification without making any silly omissions.

Thread resurrection! (Are there any more recent threads that detail build costs?)

Is this line:

equivalent to this?

Short answer is no.
The PWP item is just a crate engine which probably will not fit an Ultima as it stands.
The AS engine has been modified to a specification drawn up by Ultima and AS producing an engine with all the correct ancillaries and positioned such that the engine will fit in the engine bay. The mod will include turning the whole inlet manifold back to front so the inlet is not up against the bulkhead.
I'm not saying the AS engine is the best deal just that they are not a direct comparison.

And before we all start shouting about it again, I think the original list is a good finger in the air and gets you into the ball park. Then go away and do your own in depth research into what YOU want in YOUR build and remember the further you stray from the factory product...probably ... the more you will spend and the more time you will take.

So its handbags at dawn then, FFS

Yo Pilbeam_mp62 I bet you wish you hadn't bothered now, nobody else has done it, so thank you, I was going to go down the build route next time but shall not bother as I still believe the costs will run away with me and the factory have mentioned a turnkey Ult is around the £75k mark,

going to look for a damaged, tatty or part built one

(Apologies for digging up the bickering, but it's a useful starting point for me).

Yes, but I would recommend an LS engine and not an SBC. Nothing really wrong with the SBC but it is more "old school" while the LS is a more modern engine.
I just wonder what the new LS8 may be like later....
