The ability to record live TV is the clincher for me and the reason I still have a cheap deal. As soon as it moves to Stream only I'll be getting a box and ditching sky.
I've had a Stream box for 23 months.
Programmes missed, zero.
I often go away for a week or 2 and then sometimes things aren't available. Match of the Day (at least not on iPlayer) being an example so I assume that they wouldn't be on Stream either?

Also how long are things that are on the likes of National Geographic and Discovery typically available and the wildlife programmes on BBC? I'll often have these recorded for months over the summer and then watch them over the winter when the weather and light has turned.
Same here, I record a lot. I dumped Sky years ago for BT I'm now on EE for everything including Sky Sports. I stream everything but with their Pro Box can also use the aerial for terrestrial which could be handy if the internet goes down...mine hasn't. The Pro Box which is not an extra has 1 TB storage and can record everything. Multi room (up to 3 boxes) is also standard. Sky can kiss my arse wink

We have Sky Q signature and Netflix which we are happy with, can anyone recommend what would be the best way of adding Sky sports until the Superbowl?

Contact Sky or try Now or something else?
Now TV do it for £26/month for 6 months, then 35. Guess try Sky and see if they will do it for less.

I have Now after completely ditching Sky. I do find the app mildly irritating. The TV guide only shows you now and next. You cant see what's on later which is crap.
Phoned them up and they just quoted the same price as online, £22.

Maybe those old days of better discounts on the phone are gone. We just went for the £22 option online.

This is why I binned sky off. They wouldn't budge and give me a discount despite being with them for almost 20 years. Most they would offer was a fiver off an 80 quid bill.

The main reason I left was the haggling nightmare every 18 months, only to reading that others had a much better deal.
AFAIK all the other streamers have a fixed monthly price and a month's notice. I'd reconsider if Sky adopted that approach.

I hope we never get "Netflix / Prime / Apple TV+ / Paramount deals anyone" threads.

So after reading everyone's responses to Sky taking the *iss big time , What is the alternative? In my opinion the Sky interface is v good but just cant justify the 112 quid a month. Currently have there broadband, Skyq, minibox and booster. Any alternative options would be appreciated.

Can't wait for the day I can tell them to stick it. Been with them 21yrs?

By all accounts some people use hooky firesticks for under £100 for the year.

I've cancelled sky after being with them for more years than I can remember. They didn't seem to want to budget on price to retain my business so they've lost it.

NVIDIA Shield and a dodgy IPTV subscription.
I also have F1 TV (along with a VPN) on it too.

I'm looking at switching my broadband from Sky as it's quite expensive for the slow speed it offers.
Vodaphone have some good deals on offer at the moment. Are the any issues using a none sky router. Do Sky make life difficult and does the equipment talk to none Sky routers without issues

No of course not.
Just be aware that the standard Vodafone router is crap though, and inferior to the Sky one.

Moved from Sky broadband to Vodafone a while ago, but was already using non-Sky router with Sky broadband, as the wifi was dire.

Just signed up to Vodafone full fibre for my dad, so will be interesting to see if the box is different. The picture certainly shows a different one to what was supplied to us.

The old grey Vodafone box with built in landline connection is pretty poor. The pictures show a different white box. Will see what we get in a few weeks. My dad's place is much smaller so not expecting range issues.

One thing to note if you're keeping a landline with Vodafone is that you'll need to jump through hoops to use non-supplied equipment, as they actively discourage it. Took me a while but got the info I needed (they over-complicate what they send, even when you ask the right questions) and needed a small Grandstream box to act as the VOIP interface (which was a nightmare to setup, but works perfectly now it is)

I'm looking at the Vodafone 500 full fibre.
It's the same price as I'm paying for bog standard Sky 35.
My land-line isn't used much so as long as I can plug it in and it works, that'll be fine

We've got full fibre 500 at home - for my dad we've gone for 150 as he won't notice the difference and it's much cheaper. He was paying through the nose for copper connection still.

That's fine in terms of landline if you're intending to stick with the Vodafone supplied box. Just flagging it's a bit of a pain if you don't, but it can be done.

Cheers.
I've just ordered the Broadband.
Even paying the new broadband and Netflix subscription, I'll be £60/month better off. Got the freeview on the TV up and running. I rarely if ever watch a Sky channel, all my viewing is streaming so glad to be finally taking the plunge and leaving after 21 years.
Only trouble is I've been scouring the Sky website and have yet to find the number to call to cancel.
They've hidden it very, very well

Which is why I ditched Virgin. I think rather than reward loyalty they view long time customers as mugs who they can keep without giving a competitive price to.

That's true of any company, especially sky.

Google it. They offer a WhatsApp chat where cancellation takes 5 minutes.

I cancelled through WhatsApp. They said I also had to telephone. I said no, there’s nothing in the terms of business about having to cancel by phone. My streaming service ends 1 October.

This. They like to do it by phone but I refused and they’ve confirmed the cancellation.
